Gardening Gloves For Spring
Funded Nov 28, 2022Thank you for helping our students access the garden more easily by giving them gloves! They'll be able to participate in more projects and spend less time on cleanup. The kids know immediately when we bring out a bin of gloves that they're going to be doing something fun. They'll be planting more strawberries, leafy greens, flowers, and more and confidently working in the soil while wearing gloves. Like the confidence one might have when wearing rain boots and stepping into a puddle, the kids are much more willing to cast any fears of dirt aside to get stuff done, and learn. Thank you!”

Heat Our High Tunnel!
Funded Nov 11, 2022With the utilization of the new heater in the tunnel we will be able to grow so much more, and extend the growing season throughout winter. This means students projects can be started in the fall and can continue all the way into the next year. This also means they can take on larger or more complex projects, which is fantastic.
When the students first went into the tunnel after the heater was installed, they certainly noticed. For starters, it was 32 degrees outside, and 55 in the tunnel. They enjoyed the relative comfort, but were informed the plants also would like the heat and they were excited.
With this heater, we can start crops and projects in the tunnel in January! This is huge, and means a lot. We have a school-wide seed starting program coming up soon and this will allow teachers who can't have plants in their class to have them in the tunnel. Thanks!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Woodring
