Help Us Build Community With a Meeting Area Rug!

Thank you very much for your generous contribution to the rug for the classroom. The students were so excited when they saw the rug! They wanted to sit on it immediately and they loved the colors. Students said they think it is comfortable and they are glad not to be sitting on the dirty floor.

The rug is a central part of our classroom. It has contributed to the sense of community in the classroom because we are able to come together in one place for discussions. We have them gather on the rug for morning meetings, daily math and word study lessons, and read-alouds. Sitting together makes it easier to share feelings, ideas, and experiences with the class. Students need the structure of a rug because it allows students to have their own spot next to students with whom they work well. We also pull small groups on the rug. It is central to our day and the flow of our classroom!
