Learning Using Art & Our Creativity
Funded Aug 12, 2024I wanted to take a moment to thank you so much for your generous contribution to my classroom wish list. Your support in providing art supplies, paper, and window film means so much and has already made a noticeable difference!
The art supplies will inspire creativity in our students, and the extra paper will help keep our projects flowing smoothly. The window film is such a thoughtful addition, creating a more inviting and comfortable space for learning. I truly appreciate your kindness in helping me make our classroom a more vibrant and functional environment for the students.
Thank you again for your generosity and commitment to supporting their education. It's because of families like yours that we can make each school year even more special.
Warmly,”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Loebs

Funded Oct 15, 2022Thank you for gracious donation. You have helped me provide our students with the gift of literacy. I love having books available in my classroom that are subject specific that I can lend out. My students know that I am voracious reader and many of them are also avid readers and ask me for recommendations on things to read and now I am able to provide a book that can help grow allies, advocates and good citizens of the earth. With your help, we now have enough copies of, A Loss for Words that each of my ASL 1-2 students can check out at the school library. As I'm sure you can imagine many of the students groan when I announce we will be reading a novel in our class. And at the end of the book, many of them express how much they enjoyed the book and how much they learned from reading it. Those are always magical words to this teachers heart.”

Learning Can Happen When Students Are Comfortable and Inspired
Funded Aug 7, 2023Thank you so much for support in helping me get the supplies I requested to make the ASL classroom a more temperature controlled, cool environment. As the weather is warming up, I plan on using the portable AC that was purchased. However, last fall when I used it for a week I was told that the district does not allow the use of portable AC's as they hadn't ran a load test on the Hollyrood building that the World Language department is housed in and it could overload the fuse box and blow a fuse and possibly start a fire. I have spoken to several electricians since the district stated this and they all said that that what the district has told me isn't true. When I have ran the AC unit, it worked just fine and never blew a fuse (I know it didn't because the unit continued to run without ever stopping which is what happens when you blow a fuse). I have not used this unit since our strike, but do plan on using it as the classroom temperatures are now consistently in the 70's everyday, while outside temperatures are typically 10-20 degrees cooler than in the classroom. I log the inside classroom temperatures and outdoor temperatures three times every school day, to keep track of this data. I am hoping for the ASL classroom to be moved next year and have asked to have my prep period during the end of the day so that the students and I don't have to suffer in 80+ degree classroom temperatures.
Than you so much for your support and help in acquiring materials and the AC unit.”

Funded Feb 12, 2024Thank you for your generosity for our literacy project. I am so appreciative that now every ASL student will have access to their own copy of each novel we read in ASL. We have already begun reading our novel and the timing couldn't be more perfect.
Thank you again for your time and donation, I couldn't have done this without you!”

Making Learning Fun & Exciting!
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you for all of your support in helping me grow my classroom supplies, games and books for the ASL classroom library. We use many of the supplies frequently. The markers, paper, clipboards, colored pencils are all things we use at least once a week. These supplies have come in helpful when we are doing some regular vocabulary review activities and our current De'VIA (Deaf Visual Image Arts) art project.
Several of the games that were a part of this fundraiser have been nice to have in the class to use to also review newly acquired vocabulary. Playing Guess Who?, Uno, Memory games, Heads Up and Jenga have been a nice way to practice vocabulary and ASL.
We are currently wrapping up our De'VIA projects and I really enjoy having the students colorful artwork on display in our classroom. I love seeing what they create and the pride they exude when they see it hanging in our classroom. It creates a lovely community vibe.
Thank you again for your support and generosity.”
