  • Printer For 6th Grade Scholars

    Funded May 9, 2023

    Thank you so much for all of your donations! Our classroom environment has greatly improved. With our new printer, we are able to have printouts on the fly! I'm able to make scaffolds and print them out comfortably.

    We have also used the printer to print out our class newsletter and create decorations to beautify our classroom. The students love being able to print out their projects on Canva.

    I have a student tech who helped me in assembling and setting up the printer! I feel like this will motivate him to pursue it as a career in the future.”

  • Bring Books and Shelves to our Class Library!

    Our students at I.S. 381 are absolutely elated with the turn out of our classroom library. Before this fundraiser, we were very limited in our options of books to read. Now, we have a plethora of comics, mangas, and fiction novels that will pique the interests of many of the readers in our class, especially low level readers that need visual supports.

    In our classroom, we have a double period of independent reading. Before the fundraiser, we were only limited to a collections of free online reading websites. During independent reading, students are annotating and making reflections about the books they read. It's important for us to have a variety of genres to choose from.

    I have students coming into my class during our lunch club that want to read beyond our independent reading day, so they can read in our comfortable seating area and read books that are interesting to them. Thanks to all who made this possible.”

  • Beanbags for 6th Grade Scholars!

    The beanbags have been a fantastic addition to our classroom. They are a privilege/motivator for the students during independent reading time to sit in our classroom library and great seats for movie days. They are also wonderful when we are working on projects.

    The students were very excited and happy to see the colorful beanbags in our room. Before we only had one beanbag and a few rugs. We hope to get more beanbags in the future!

    We plan to continue using the beanbags for more comfortable seating in our classroom.”

  • Help My 6th Grade Scholars Get Headphones!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

    The new headphones have allowed our students to take diagnostic tests and have the tests read to them. They are also able to listen to audiobooks while we are in independent reading time. This allows students to be able to focus on their own book without outside distractions. While we do online assignments, the students are also able to listen to relaxing music to help them concentrate on their work.

    The most exciting thing about the headphones is how colorful and soft they are. They're also very easy to disinfect to keep everyone safe.

    The students have become more focused and concentrated when they have headphone privileges. The headphones have been a great good behavior motivator to the point that other teachers want headphones as well.”
