Balloon Blasters: Newton's Laws in Action!
Funded May 6, 2024Although the material list for this project might not seem like much, I cannot underscore how much of an impact they made on a dense topic! This turned out to be one of my favorite projects to do with my students this year, and I am sure they would agree! Using basic materials, my students were able to create balloon powered vehicles that demonstrated Newton's Laws of Motion.
After working through different vehicle iterations, students competed in a bracket styled Mario Kart themed race! Students were able to identify Newton's Laws of Motion at work all while having fun and competing. You know that your project left an impact when students were asking if they could take materials home to build another car once the project had officially concluded! Thank you for supporting our classroom!”

This classroom project was brought to life by General Motors and 7 other donors.Stellar Soarers: Middle School Rocketry Expedition
Funded Mar 13, 2024Thank you for taking the time to consider my STEM classroom. Your donation has helped me bring the concepts of rocketry to a middle school setting in a tangible, fun and engaging way. We used the Engineering Design Process to build and test different types of rocket designs. Students modified the body, length and wings of their rockets while testing different angled launches using the Pitsco Launcher.
My students absolutely loved the Launcher, and got a kick out of it each time we set it off! It's amazing what some basic materials and a gust of air can do to a lesson. It made this type of topic that much more interesting.
I would love to expand on the topic of rocketry and aviation now that I know my students have a keen interest. Looking ahead, it would be awesome to raise funds for a flight simulator or some type of virtual reality experience. Thank you for letting my students' curiosity bloom!”
