Sensory Tools Keep Us Motivated!
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you for your generosity! Self-regulation can be hard for anyone, and it is especially hard for children who struggle with sensory issues. With your help, we are helping students become more independent in finding ways to focus, and choosing tools and activities that they find motivating. A simple sensory tool, like the colorful moving slug (in our class we call it The Snug) can provide just enough fun to be motivating, plus enough sensory soothing to be calming, and make all the difference for a child.
Another example of successful tools are the spike rings and the chew necklaces. Both are fun (who doesn't want a bright, spikey bracelet?!?) and sensory soothing. These tools may seem simple, but are super effective and support students to be able to regulate themselves. Building independence is so important for any child, and especially empowering for our students.
A class favorite also comes from your donation- the pom poms are used to reward individual students and the whole class when they are on task, extra kind, or whenever they would benefit from reinforcement. Students place their earned pom pom in a big "Care Bear" jar, and when we fill the jar, the whole class earns a reward. Extra time in the play yard and dance parties are popular whole-class reward choices!
Thank you for your incredible support- we are all so grateful.”

Funded Nov 28, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations. My class was so excited to hear that we received new tools! One of the most exciting tools for our class was the robot spinners. Arrival to school can be a dysregulating time. Many of our students come to school on a long bus ride, and then need to wait in the cafeteria for the school day to start. We try to always provide new and interesting tools to help students keep calm and self-regulated in the mornings. The robot spinners were hugely successful- and they came in just the right colors! Our students even chose to share with students from other classes, who were excited about the new spinners. The zipper bags are great for helping keep arrival tools organized!
The color changing slime has also been a huge win. It is the top choice as a calming/self-regulation tool for two of our students. When you need support, having a tool that you know will help you focus and be in control of your emotions is hugely empowering.
Thank you for helping our students focus themselves, and set themselves up for a great day!”

Ms. Anna
Sensory Tools Help Students Help Themselves!
Funded Jan 25, 2023Our class greatly appreciates your help! We are so excited to receive our new sensory tools which will help students become even more independent. Guiding and encouraging students to calm themselves and regulate their emotions goes a long way to supporting their learning- both academic and social. Thank you for seeing how important these tools can be!”

Calm Bodies and Minds Learn Best
Funded Sep 26, 2022Thanks to your donation, we were able to purchase scoop chairs for our class. Our students were thrilled when we opened the boxes, and they were able to use the chairs in class. Wiggly bodies are much happier with the support and ability to move that comes with these alternative seats. With these fun tools, student brains can focus more on learning than trying to manage their sensory needs. We use the scoop chairs each time we meet on the rug- which is multiple times a day. Students get to choose their chair (and the color!), and where they would like to sit on the rug. When we have buddies visit from other classes, they love the scoop chairs, too!
The sensory tools, like the squishies, are invaluable tools. They help students regulate themselves when they are feeling stressed, or just need a moment to re-focus.
Thank you for your generosity.”

Ms. Anna
