  • Learning Through Explicit Modeling

    The document camera that your donation helped us obtain has tremendously enhanced student learning in my classroom!

    We use it for many different purposes. During writing, young students benefit from having explicit modeling. The document camera allows me to show students my thinking and writing process on the large Promethean screen. Before the writing workshop ends, a crucial part is the sharing out. I pick 3-4 volunteers who are eager to show their classmates what they have drawn and written. This would not be possible without the document camera.

    During reading lessons, I am now able to show students a text on the screen so that we can read the text together.

    These are just a few of the many uses of the document camera in my first grade classroom.
