Problem Solving Small Group Tables
Funded May 8, 2024The new grouping tables that your generous donation helped fund are working out so well in our math class. Students are enjoying moving to different locations in the room and working with groups of students. It gives them opportunities to talk about the math concepts with each other and help or get help from their peers.
Recently the students had an activity that required them to make bracelets or keychain clips with "one word" for the year. They needed to find their "one word" that would help them to have the best year ever. The students used the grouping tables to gather, organize their supplies and make their clips. It was such a great opportunity for them to start to get to know each other and encourage one another over their words.
We are so thankful for your generous donation. The grouping tables have completely transformed our learning environment.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Quill.com and 13 other donors.Digital Thermometers
Funded Apr 3, 2023The digital thermometers that your donation helped purchase are so useful in our advanced math class. We use them for engineering projects like Amazon Mission, Everest Trek and Stranded. Students design prototypes of various lifesaving apparel or tools and then test them under stressful conditions. Those conditions often require temperature measurements at 5 - 10 second intervals, so the digital thermometers are invaluable to their design process.
Our classes were so excited that people would donate money to help them have quality tools. It is really helpful not only to the projects, but also in showing students that we all work together and help each other to make the world a better place.
On behalf of my students, I sincerely thank you for helping us and showing us that people care and are willing to help each other. It is a fantastic example!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ruoff
Engineering Explorations
Funded Nov 17, 2022My 6th grade advanced math students are really enjoying their Everest Exploration using materials that your donations made possible. They are now able to look at potential real-world problems and think about and plan possible solutions. They test various materials under extreme conditions, test and gather data, and then design unique solutions to the problem.
Each time that the students have an opportunity to gather and work with materials, their interest and intensity of work increases. They communicate with each other readily and explore the possibilities of those materials.
As we near the completion of the Everest Exploration, we'll be looking ahead to the other explorations - Stranded and Amazon, which offer different challenges and different materials. Now that they have the experience of one exploration, they will be able to use the materials in more sophisticated and creative ways. It is exciting to see their worlds expand! Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Ruoff
