  • Headphones for Spanish 6th Graders!

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of headphones to my classroom. These headphones have made a tremendous difference in the way my students learn and engage with our digital platforms. Before your donation, students often struggled to focus on their individual tasks, as the classroom could quickly fill with overlapping audio from different lessons and activities. Now, thanks to the headphones, each student can fully immerse themselves in their work, hearing their content clearly without distractions or disrupting others. This has allowed them to take full advantage of our educational tools, fostering a quieter and more focused learning environment.

The excitement among my students was palpable when they learned that kind people like you had donated these headphones just for them. They were thrilled to know that others cared about their learning and wanted to support them in such a meaningful way. Your gift has not only enhanced their educational experience but has also shown them the impact of generosity and community support. It means so much to them—and to me—that there are people out there who believe in their success and are willing to invest in their growth.

We are committed to taking excellent care of these headphones so that they can benefit students for as long as possible. We've established a routine for cleaning and storing them properly to ensure they remain in good condition. Thank you for your kindness, support, and selflessness. Your contribution is a gift that goes beyond just providing a tool; it's an investment in the future of each child in this classroom. On behalf of myself and my students, thank you for believing in the power of education and for being such an inspiring example of compassion and support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Henriquez

  • Book Class Set for my Spanish Classes!

    Funded Jan 1, 2023

Thanks to your gracious donation, we were able to start reading "El color de mis palabras" in our Spanish class. We dove into learning about Republica Dominicana and its culture in order to understand the setting in which the story takes place. Students were engaged and happy to finally learn why Repuplica Dominicana is such a popular destination for tourists. Students got to see the beaches, the people, and even learn about their unique Spanish accent.

We started to read the book and we used this opportunity to have students practice their listening skills while I read. They also, got the chance to read in their own table groups to practice their Spanish reading skills. Students then had to answers comprehension questions and look for new Spanish vocabulary that is unique to Republica Dominicana. They got to learn that there are different ways to call everyday things like "autobus" and "motochonco".

I have seen the majority of the students get immerse in the story because they are able to relate to it one way or another. There are a lot family interactions between characters that they were able to see themselves in and that is very powerful to watch.

Thank you for giving me and my students this opportunity and amazing experience!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Henriquez
