  • Cozy Carpet

    Funded Jan 12, 2024

I want to take this time to thank you for your generosity. I am so, so very grateful. I have not had the opportunity to lay out the carpet for the children to enjoy. Shortly after this project was completed, my school district decided to close our school at the end of this school year. They asked us to start packing up what we could and that all of our belonging be packed by the last day of this school year since we will not be allowed in after the last day. I felt that putting the carpet out and then having to remove it was another additional item to move and hope the district doesn't "misplace" it in the move. I am storing it at my home and I will use it at my new school next year for the children to enjoy! I will be at the school most of my kids are going to and for that I am excited so some of them will get to enjoy the carpet!

Please accept my apologies for notusing the carpet this school year.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McDermott

  • Healthy Snacks and Supplies!

    Funded Aug 21, 2023

Thank you so much for the wonderful snacks you provided for my students! Whenever they are hungry it is so helpful to have snacks at the ready. When they do not have snacks for their snack time in class it feels so good to provide them with something to eat. They are so appreciative. Sometimes, I will do a special snack when they follow expectations in class or finish an assignment in the expected time frame. I also give snacks just because.

The students got so excited when I showed them the snack shelf in the special education office! There is something for everyone thanks to your generosity. Students on my caseload are usually hungry in the morning and after lunch. It is nice to be able to provide a little something for them.”

  • Strong Readers Can Be Strong Leaders

    Funded May 14, 2023

Thank you for the gracious donation of books for our classroom library. There are so many different books that most student needs can be met. We received books for K to grade 5 that include diversity, kindness and award winners.

The students were so excited to receive books as a donation. At times, they have trouble deciding which book they want to read. It is wonderful that we have books for all reading levels. The students can practice decoding skills while reading and reading fluency.

At this time, all the books in our library are in the resource room for the special education students. Normally, special education teachers do not have their own classroom library, so it is with much appreciation that the books we have can be called our own.

Spreading the joy of reading means so much to me and I want to spread that joy to our students. Reading is one of the areas my students struggle. It is nice to be able to offer a variety of books to them.”

  • Attention and Organization

    Funded Jun 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your extremely generous donations to fund the project of Attention and Organization. I love the area I have now to organize the classroom library and headphones for students. It makes everything easily accessible for the students.

The storage containers house work and supplies for each students goals we work on together during the day. My students love that they have their own containers with supplies. They can easily get what they need when they need it.

The headphones are great for district and state testing. They are helpful when tests are read aloud for some students and not others since it prevents distractions. Seeing new materials totally excites the students and they can't wait to begin using them.

Your gereousity is very much appreciated.”

  • Reading Comprehension Is Key To AMAZING Readers!

    Funded Feb 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity! Not only am I appreciative of your generous donation but my students are as well. Your donation of the different comprehension kits is a wonderful addition to our resource room.

Comprehension skills are very difficult for the students on my special education caseload. They can read words but listening and understanding what they are reading is the struggle.

I wasn't sure how the students would like this new resource but I am so happy to say that they loved the kits. They always asked to use them and when they became stuck on a question they had the answer key to use.

Thank you for the wonderful addition to our classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McDermott

  • Working Out the Wiggles and Taming the Tummy!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

My students love the wiggle chairs and have already eaten their way through the snacks. What a difference it makes when the students don't lose focus during instruction because their tummies are quiet or they just can't sit still. They also are using the other items too, me included!

The wiggle chairs work well when I am teaching my specially designed instruction to the students. They are more focused on their task. When they first saw the items, they were extremely excited and could not wait to try everything!

We are so appreciative of your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. McDermott
