The material provided through the funding of this project has allowed me to differentiate phonics instruction for students with a multi-sensory approach. Your donation allowed me to purchase items to meet these needs without needing to pull funds from my own pocket as I so often do throughout the year.
These materials are used by various small group teachers in our room to target skills and meet the needs of all learners in our classroom. Our goal is to get all of our students reading real books, fluently before leaving our room to go to second grade! You are helping us work toward that goal.
Thank you!”

Our first grade class learns about many things that grow to incorporate science skills into reading and writing. We learn about pumpkins in the fall and go on a class field trip to a pumpkin patch. Something that was lacking in my instruction was real-life, hands-on experiences for my students as they learn about how plants grow and how a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. Your donations helped me provide some of these interactive, hands-on materials for my students.
They LOVE read aloud time and with your donation I was able to purchase a large collection of new read alouds that tie into learning about how plants grow and how caterpillars turn into butterflies. I was also able to purchase plant grow kits. In the past, students would make "greenhouses" out of ziplock bags and paper towels, which worked, but with your donation, I am able to create an enhanced experience for them.”

My students have gained so much knowledge and enjoyment from the books we received, thanks to your donations! We use picture books to teach comprehension, vocabulary, and build background knowledge.
With the picture books I received from your donation, I have been able to design units based on our first grade curriculum with rich read alouds. In our classroom, students are read aloud to every day. These books are also left out, displayed in our room, for students to look through and read themselves or with a partner. They love having access to these amazing books!”

My students have been enjoying their new classroom rug! Our new rug is used daily, sometimes multiple times throughout the day. Students gather on the rug for class read alouds, phonics practice and group work. Students love the bright, colorful design! I also love that there is a letter of the alphabet for each student to sit.
When the students saw our new rug, they were so excited and couldn't wait to use it as a bright, new work space.
Currently, students are continuing to learn how to work both collaboratively and more independently. They use the classroom rug as a space to do both.”
