Flexible Seating and Math Centers

Funded Sep 29, 2022

The students are using the resources for math centers in the classroom. They are currently learning addition and subtraction using different strategies and word problems. We use the resources to practice the strategies after the lesson in centers. The students love playing board games to practice addition and subtraction. We also introduced shapes as a center playing the memory game to prepare for the upcoming unit. Students were excited to solve addition problems on their whiteboard when playing the board game. One student solved an addition problem to 20 using the resources! The students used the flexible seating while working on their ipads. They were able to focus on a floor spot without getting distracted.

The students were excited when they first saw the materials. They could not wait to play the games and sit in the new chairs. The students used the items for new and interesting centers in the classroom.

The next steps are to use the place value, money and time centers in the classroom for upcoming units. The activities and games will be an engaging way for students to learn the new topics. I also plan to use the magnetic number tiles and number lines to help students with number recognition and addition and subtraction.”
