  • Spanish Graphic Novels and Series for Newcomer Readers

    Funded Apr 10, 2025

Thank you so much for funding our project! Your generous support helps us build a rich, inclusive Spanish-English library for our neurodiverse emergent bilingual students. These books are more than stories—they’re bridges to belonging, language, imagination, and creativity. With your help, our students—many of whom are new to the U.S. and have faced interrupted schooling—will have the opportunity to fall in love with reading. ¡Mil gracias!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sofía Bosch (Ms. B)

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 12 other donors.
  • Snacks for Bilingual Special Education Students

    Funded Sep 2, 2024

Thanks to your incredible support, our bilingual special education students have access to snacks that fuel their bodies and minds. These resources have been a game-changer in our classroom, creating an environment where students feel more comfortable, focused, and ready to engage in their learning.

Your generosity has directly contributed to their academic and emotional growth, giving them the tools they need to succeed. Thank you for being an essential part of their journey and for believing in their potential.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sofía Bosch (Ms. B)

  • Writing Warriors - Resources to Inspire Bilingual Creative Writing

    Funded Apr 24, 2024

I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support and generosity. Your donations of journals, reading comprehension materials, social-emotional learning tools, phonics activity books, and the inspiring butterfly kit made a profound difference in the lives of my students.

At our Title I school in Brooklyn, NY, we serve a diverse group of neurodiverse, newcomer, and emergent bilingual students who are navigating the challenging process of learning English in a new country. Your contributions gave these students the resources they need to succeed in their creative writing endeavors. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them to raise and then release butterflies, writing creatively about their metamorphic journeys.

In sum, your support goes beyond just providing materials; it opens up a world of possibilities for these students, helping them to develop their language skills, creativity, and self-expression. MIL GRACIAS”

    With gratitude,

  • Spanish Manga, Pokémon and Graphic Novels

    Funded Jan 12, 2024

Thank you so much for your contributions to texts that the students enjoy.

With these manga, pokémon and graphic novels, the students were able to better explore character traits, plot, and tone. Students excitedly check out the anime and graphic novels to take home and to read during independent reading. They have even enjoyed comparing some of the texts to films that have come out.

We appreciate your investment in our literacy community and getting more students to fall in love with reading.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sofía Bosch (Ms. B)

  • Shelves for Bilingual Books & Comfy Chairs

    Funded Aug 29, 2023

Last year we were embarrassed to have stacks of books in the corners of the room. The bookshelves played an invaluable role in changing the dynamic of our class and class library. The shelves also let the students easily access the books they are looking for, leading to more engagement. Coupled with the new beanbags, we've seen more students interested in being in the library reading independently than ever before.

MIL GRACIAS for believing in our mission to create a safe space for reading, storytelling, curiosity, and student-led discovery.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sofía Bosch (Ms. B)

  • Bilingual Special Education Library

    Funded Mar 12, 2023

The encyclopedias, books, graphic novels, resources, and materials you donated have been invaluable to our class. Our bilingual and neurodiverse students now demonstrate more interest in independent reading and have all moved up at least one reading grade level or more since September. Your contribution played an incredible role in helping me create a classroom that prioritizes diverse storytelling and gives students things they are excited to read. Our growing bilingual library not only supports this generation of students but also many years and groups of students to come. MIL GRACIAS!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sofía Bosch (Ms. B)

  • Warrior Winter Wear

    Funded Oct 27, 2022

THANK YOU so much for providing proper winter gear so that our students can come to school warm and ready to learn.

By providing students with hats, gloves, and neck warmers, we were able to prepare them for winter and my runners were able to run even when the temperatures dropped. They loved the variety of beanie colors and students across the school were able to stop by for gear.

Our run club hit the 4 km mark last week at practice and we are looking forward to our official 5k race next month. We couldn't have done it without your gear to keep us from getting too chilly!

    We appreciate you.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sofía Bosch (Ms. B)

  • Support Our Bilingual Special Ed Storytelling & Reading Corner!

    Funded Sep 10, 2022

Thank you so much for bringing our storytelling and reading corner to life. It has become a favorite spot not only for our students but also for many MS50 middle schoolers from other classes. The corner makes our kids feel at home and excited to hang out in our classroom. Reading and instruction in general have become exciting when we switch it up and hang in the "rincon de lectura".

The water bottles, snacks, and supplies have also been crucial for our students. You have made it so much easier for my co-teacher Mr. Zhañay and me to ensure students are engaged and having their basic needs met. Thank you again for believing in us and our amazing students, we are grateful for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Sofía Bosch (Ms. B)
