Let's Mix It Up!
Funded Jan 24, 2024Thank you for your generosity. We have already used our blenders to create hummus, blender salsa, crepes, fruit smoothies, and milkshakes and we look forward to using them for future labs throughout the semester. We have used the electric mixers to make cookies and cupcakes and will definitely be using them a lot his semester to create lots of yummy dishes.
Having functional equipment is very important to the safety of our cooking classes. Our current classes have around 200 students in them and safety is always our top priority. Equity is also key in middle school so having working equipment for each kitchen is helps us start our labs with the same resources and saves time because kitchens don't have to share.
Thank you again for your contribution to our classes.”

Ms. Krummes
We Love to Cook and Clean!
Funded Oct 24, 2023Thank you for all of your donations and support for our Foods classes. The students were SO excited to see the Amazon boxes being delivered to our classroom and their kitchens.
Thanks to your generosity, we have already used our new can openers to open pumpkin for a lab and we have used the knives to chop onions. We have used the brooms and dustpans on a daily basis to keep our classroom and kitchens clean and sanitary.
We have tested out the new scoops and are looking forward to using them for our next cookie lab to ensure that our cookies are made with consistency so they all turn out the same.
Thank you for making our labs more sanitary and safe.”

Safety and Sanitation in Our Classroom Kitchens - New Equipment!
Funded Sep 9, 2022Thank you for supporting our Foods 1 and Foods 2 classes. The new plates and cutlery that your generous donations have provided have made cooking safer and easier and the students were really excited to see them in their kitchens. Many of them have commented on forks that aren't bent and the way that all the cutlery actually matches.
We have already used the plates and the cutlery for our spaghetti and cracked sugar cookie labs.
We will be creating around 40 dishes this semester and will be using our plates and cutlery for most of them.
Our Foods 2 classes will also be using the plates and cutlery to plate a dish that showcases a spice or herb that each individual student has researched and presented to the class. They will also use them for their Iron Chef competition at the end of the semester. They will be given a key ingredient and a week to budget and plan. They will work in their cooking groups to create a dish that showcases that ingredient in a head to head competition with other kitchens. The dishes will be judged based on taste, appearance, and originality by teachers and administrators on campus. The new plates and cutlery will make the plating of the dishes much nicer than they have been in the past. The students are very excited about the competition and are very grateful for the donations.”

New Pans Are Healthier for Students!
Funded Sep 20, 2022Thank you for supporting our Foods 1 and Foods 2 classes. The new non-stick pans that your generous donations have provided have made cooking safer and easier and the students were really excited to see them in their kitchens.
We have already used them for our spaghetti lab and love the way that the sauce came out so easily. It is also nice to know that our food is safer to eat with our new, unscratched pans.
We will be creating around 40 dishes this semester and will be using our pans for many of them, including, sloppy joes, enchiladas, taco salad, stuffed shells, BLTs, fried rice, fudge, pancakes, popcorn balls, scrambled eggs, french toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, and toffee.
Our Foods 2 classes will also be using the pans to create a dish that showcases a spice or herb that each individual student has researched and presented to the class. They will also use the pans for their Iron Chef competition at the end of the semester. They will be given a key ingredient and a week to budget and plan. They will work in their cooking groups to create a dish that showcases that ingredient in a head to head competition with other kitchens. The dishes will be judged based on taste, appearance, and originality by teachers and administrators on campus. They are very excited about the competition and are very grateful that they will have new pans to use for their dishes.”
