    Funded Mar 4, 2025

I am so excited to present these new books to my students! My students show such appreciation for everything and I know they will love these books that I specifically picked because of their interests. I appreciate your donation and the DonorsChoose foundation immensely. Thank you for helping this passionate teacher instill a love for reading with my kindergartners.”

    Mrs. Moss

  • From the Essentials to Play, We Need Both Today

    Funded Feb 4, 2025

Thank you so much for investing in my classroom of little learners. I can’t wait to use the new materials and share them with my precious kindergarteners. My students will be so excited to see their favorite toys in our treasure box. My students love pop it fidgets and will especially love the CVC pop it game. Thank you again.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moss

  • The Materials That Are Necessary To Build Our Kindergarten Community

    Funded May 16, 2024

Thank you so much for the treasure box prizes, scented markers (which students LOVE when I check their paper), extra crayons, extra markers, enough playdoh for everyone to have their own in their favorite color, math manipulatives, and social emotional learning items, etc. My students were very excited to pick out their favorite color of playdoh and write their name on the lid. So far, they have molded their playdoh into letters, numbers, shapes, and have stamped their name into the playdoh. About half of my students did not send in any classroom school supplies, so I was able to give each child their own box of crayons and markers, as well as having backup boxes of crayons to use during the year.

My students earn "panther bucks" which is like fake money and they can turn in their bucks for prizes from the treasure box. With the donor's choose items I received, I was able to stock my treasure and give my students a reward for their positive behavior.

I also received the "A Spot of Emotions" book and plushies to help with my classroom's social emotional learning. I have the plushies displayed in the class and the students loved listening to me read the book. I also found videos online of the animated spots to aide in my student's enthusiasm. When students need a minute to feel their emotions I let them grab the plushie that they are feeling and sit with it. When they are ready to return, they put the plushie back and rejoin the class.

Thank you so much for helping me build an inviting kindergarten community!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moss

  • Learning Math and Reading Through Play the Kindergarten Way

    Funded Feb 28, 2024

My students and I want you thank you so much for the fun learning materials. During small group rotations, I often have students tell me they want more time at my fun table learning and I can thank the hands on materials that you funded. Some of the materials included CVC puzzles, CVC crayon letters, snap and make the CVC word letters, snap and add numbers, a huge magnetic timer, stringing word beads, letter and sound locks etc. My class is doing much better transitioning to and from places/ areas with the use of the large magnetic timer which gives them a visual of when to start cleaning up.

A majority of my students have a difficult home life and come from broken homes. I have some students that do not want to leave school at the end of the day. Also, with summer coming up, I have several who do not want to be at home for months. My classroom is typically the first schooling that my students have experienced and I do not want them to dread coming. As a teacher, I want to leave a lasting and loving impact. I believe in learning through play rather than worksheets. With the materials I received, I have been able to implement engaging and fun learning activities that get students excited. Thank you for your support for my precious students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moss

  • Captivating Kinders Through Play and Books

    Funded Oct 20, 2022

Thank you so much for the classroom literacy resources and books. I have added the books to our classroom library and the students love trying to read the books independently. I have utilized many of the materials during small group instruction, especially the CVC activities.

The resources have improved my students' confidence in regards to them decoding and reading words. My students often comment that they loved the activities I have planned and leave my reading stations saying, "That was fun, I wish we had longer!" which is music to a teacher's' ears. Some of the manipulatives are so fun, kids forget they are learning.

This is my first year teaching kindergarten and I am at a low socio-economically impacted school/ area. These materials have benefited students and have made their educational experience more fun. Often times, my students complain when it is the weekend and they have to miss school and the fun learning/ activities we do.

I have so much gratitude and thank you for helping me make these precious student's first year in school a success.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Moss
