The Science Media Project

Funded Mar 27, 2018

Technology has become more and more prevalent in our classrooms and we need to find ways to make the most of this exciting tool. In our science classroom, we use technology daily. Our room for the most part is now paperless. With our class set of iPads, students are able to document their work through gathering data and observations, taking photos, and collaboration. The Internet has given us unlimited resources in order to obtain knowledge and gather information through research. In the age of technology, students also gain valuable life skills by becoming computer literate at an early age, becoming familiar with typing, editing work, and using networking software.

The iPad stands have been an exciting addition to our classroom! One of the big advantages of the stands has been to open up table space for projects. Before, eight tablets were taking up space. The stands have reduced their footprints, and opened up more working room. Many times, students are heavily engaged and are standing all period. These adjustable stands have increased student efficiency. Since they rise up, students can work on the tablets without being hunched over their work. Overall they have made using the tablets more convenient and effective.

Many students have been excited to use the tablet stands and I am happy to say that they have shown great maturity in sharing their usage at the tables. Students remark on how they have helped them keep the tablets off the table. Being at an angle is a lot easier to work. Students have shown great respect for the iPads and know their value both educationally and through the funding it takes to have them. They are always concerned about spilling things or getting them dirty. I've gotten a lot of remarks about how the stands have made them feel more comfortable using the iPads by keeping them away from all our dirty experiments. We are very grateful to have this tool to enhance our students' classroom experience!”

With gratitude,

Mr. Weiss
