  • Having Our Own Library Corner!

    Funded Feb 12, 2024

My students were so excited to see the many boxes of books in class! The images on the covers of the books were so bright! My students were able to see many types of characters not only on the outside cover but when they started to turn the pages!

The next steps are to allow the students to choose book selections based upon an outside cover they may have never seen before! This will allow the student to get outside of their comfort zone with book selections in the class!

By allowing the students to do this, it will allow my students to become more engaged in the reading process in the classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Griffin

  • Essential Reading In Style

    Funded Dec 12, 2022

Thank you for the donation of books! The students have enjoyed the variety of books including the smaller sizes for my younger students!

Many of the books are very detailed concerning animals that many of my students have never seen!

Your donation has allowed my students the chance to look and talk about books that have such creative art and interesting descriptions of characters!

Some of the books have descriptions of children of various races and ethnicities. Some of the books show children who live in places they have not seen described before!

    Thank you again!”

  • Staying Hydrated!

    Funded Oct 28, 2022

The water cooler donation has been a tremendous asset to the class! Due to various issues with the water in our city, this cooler has allowed the students to always have water available.

By not having to worry about water bottles that may be available it allows the students to be able to focus on school instead of what condition the city's water may be in. The students love being able to use their own cup or water bottle to out their water in. Water is very much a daily necessity for everyone and not having to worry about dehydration or where the next water donation will come is something that does not have to be a factor now.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Griffin

  • Reading Books With Kids Who Look Like Me!

    Funded Sep 7, 2022

There have been many lessons introduced with the books for the class. Some include but are not limited to the introduction of important black history figures and their contributions to society.

Kindness has also been explored dealing with being in kindergarten.

My kindergarten students can definitely relate since many of them are in school for the very first time. They are learning how being kind can make their days better.

In our classroom reading looks like being able to read books that seem to interest you and for the younger readers the outside covers of the books are what appeal to them first.

My students who are new to school the kindergarten students are especially loving the books because a title is dealing specifically with their grade! The books have definitely been a great asset to the class!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Griffin
