Flexible Seating!
Funded Dec 19, 2024Thank you so much for your generosity. Your contribution to our flexible seating has made such a huge impact already. My students love being able to use different seats to be comfortable in my classroom. The bands have help students who need movement while working. They are more engaged and happier in the classroom because of the flexible seating option. I have a system where students are able to put their name on the seat they wish to use. Students have the freedom to change the seat option throughout the day to fit their needs. It has been a game changer in my classroom. I truly appreciate your donation.”

Reading Rainbow
Funded Aug 3, 2024Thank you so much for your donation to my classroom. I love using books to teach valuable lessons to my students. I have already started diving into the books that we received to teach my class about conflict resolution. We are able to have lively conversations about how to handle problems like bullying, school rules and how to be kind. I love seeing how excited students get when we read together on the rug and they are able to make connections and predictions. I am so grateful for your support to our class.”

Reading Is Fun!
Funded Oct 11, 2023The books that you have contributed to our classroom library will greatly impact my first grade class. My class loves story time. Many of my students do not have books at home, they have mentioned to me how much they love when we go to the rug to read. I allow my students to use the library books to calm down and when they have free choices. I always see how excited they are to look through the pictures and imagine what the story is about. Every day after lunch I gather my class on the rug and read them a story. We always pause and answer questions about what the story is about, who the characters are, what might happen next as well as what we thought about the story. This time provides my students with an opportunity to share their thoughts without any pressure of being wrong. It is such a relaxing time for all of us. I love getting stories that are interesting to my grade level. These books will give us more rug/story time and for that I am so grateful for.”

Funded Sep 20, 2023First grade is a crucial year for learning to read and write. I am thrilled to be able to incorporate the Science of Reading into my curriculum. The Secret Stories posters will provide a great visual for my students when we are writing in our journal. We practice writing every single day, my students love journal time. I noticed that my students were struggling with some phonics skills. I created this Donors Choose to be able to provide a print rich environment for my students. These posters will be so beneficial for them during journal time.
I waited to unbox these posters in front of my class. We were all so excited when we saw how pretty they were. We began to talk about all of the sounds from each poster. My students were so happy to see the Superhero letters as well as the 'SH' poster. They were able to make connections to what we have already learned this year. They immediately wanted to start writing and were using the posters for reference when sounding out words. Thank you so much for your support and contribution to my class.”

Funded Nov 29, 2022Your donation to our classroom library is greatly appreciated!!! Our first grade class loves story time. We are able to gather as a class on the rug daily to listen to a story. Students are engaged, ask questions and relate the story to their daily life. Story time allows us to us our imagination and travel to different places. Many of our advanced readers are able to use these books to practice reading fluency. Students who read books that are interesting to them have a more positive attitude towards reading. Many students use these books to practice how to properly handle a book with care, they are able to explore the pictures and retell the story based on the pictures. We appreciate your generosity!”
