Funded Mar 8, 2024Thank you for your generous support for my project. This project has brought life into my classroom. Students played Literary Jenga as they provided peer feedback for improving college personal statements. By labeling the Jenga blocks 1 to 54 and providing students with a document of 54 questions, helped fuse academics and entertainment. Students were engaged as they played the game and analyzed their peer's writing.
Students were actively engaged as they provided their peer with tangible feedback to help improve their writing. Many students were laughing and focusing on playing the game as they discussed in collaborative groups the essay with their peers. This activity supported my students in building community, building their agency and voice, and supported them to be reflective in their own writing. After playing Literary Jenga, students had tangible feedback in improving their writing. Students also reflected through discussing their peer's essay on the criteria that makes an effective essay.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Dale
