Funded Jan 8, 2025The materials that have been bought for my students have allowed the students to work on exploring their emotions, sharing their emotions, and interact with others through play. The students are learning to control their emotions when they have strong feelings and communicate those feelings with staff, peers, and their parents. Students are also learning coping strategies to assist with their strong emotions. Each student has been working on learning to appropriately share and interact with each other when at school. They are then able to carry over their new skills into their home lives.
When the students first saw their new learning materials for in the classroom and on the playground, they were very excited. This excitement has continued as they have used the materials and with their excitement.
Next steps for this project are for the students to continue to learn about their emotions and appropriately express themselves in the classroom and on the playground. They will continue to learn how to interact with each other and share.”

The students have been primarily using The Little Spot books to learn about their feelings and learn how different feelings interact with each other. Through reading those books during whole group and small group times, they have been able to gain a deeper feeling of their emotions, how to communicate their strong feelings, and coping strategies to go with some of them.”
