Holiday Tales: A Kaleidoscope of Diversity in Children's Literature
Funded Mar 4, 2024Particular students that are especially engaged are those from diverse backgrounds or those who are English language learners. They often find personal connections in the stories, which helps them feel seen and valued. Others are intrigued by the unique illustrations and narrative styles, leading to enthusiastic discussions and even requests for more books from specific cultures. Overall, the diversity in the collection enriches our reading experience and makes literature a celebration of our shared humanity.
We incorporate arts and crafts related to the stories, like creating cultural artifacts or holiday decorations, to deepen their connection to the material. I encourage questions and discussions, making it a collaborative learning environment. Discussing characters' choices and cultural contexts encourages students to think critically about their own beliefs and experiences.”

Kindness Rocks!
Funded May 9, 2024The students were absolutely delighted when they first saw the materials! Their eyes lit up with excitement as they explored the vibrant paint markers and the smooth, clean rocks. Many of them immediately began brainstorming ideas for their rock designs, eager to express their creativity. This project not only beautifies our surroundings but also spreads kindness and positivity wherever the rocks are found. Additionally, we've incorporated the book into our read-aloud sessions, which has sparked meaningful discussions about empathy and kindness, enriching our classroom environment.”

Funded Mar 15, 2024I have noticed that particular students have formed special connections with the Biscuit books. For some, it's the comfort of revisiting familiar characters and settings, providing a sense of security and routine. For others, it's the opportunity to practice reading aloud with fluency and expression, building confidence in their oral communication skills. These students beam with pride as they share their favorite Biscuit stories with classmates and teachers alike.
During private reading time, Biscuit books are some of the first out of their book boxes. During partner reading, I can hear their excited voices talking about the different adventures of Biscuit they are reading. I am very grateful for this donation to provide a variety of Biscuit books for many students! Thank you!”

Sitting In Style
Funded Jan 17, 2024We are absolutely thrilled and immensely grateful for your generous donation of flexible seating options for our first-grade class. Our first graders jumped for joy when seeing the new flexible seating! They are so thankful to be able to sit on something comfortable instead of sitting on the ground when they wanted to sit somewhere new. They are used everyday and are always the first choice of seating to be chosen.
Students use them to write on, sit on with the IPads, read, do math worksheets and use whiteboards. They have been such a great tool for student to choose where in the room they want to sit. Not only do they get a choice but they are able to spread out so there is more productivity and less talking while working. Thank you very much for your generous donation!”

Brrr.. It's Cold Outside
Funded Jan 7, 2024On behalf of my first-grade class, I wanted to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of hats, mittens, and snow pants. Your thoughtful contribution has made a significant difference in ensuring that each student stays warm and comfortable during our outdoor activities. With the winter season upon us, your kindness has brought smiles to the faces of our young learners and peace of mind to their families, knowing they are properly equipped for the chilly weather.
This has helped students who did not have the proper outside clothing to be able to use so they could go outside for recess. Thank you once again for your kindness and for making a difference in the lives of our students.”
