My class and I received the kick balls and jump ropes for recess. Thank you so much for your donations to make this happen. We so appreciate your generosity. The kids were so excited to see some new equipment to play with. Recess is now much more fun and the kids are more active. This means they are better able to focus during instruction. It also means fewer fights at recess because there is enough for everyone to play with and be kept busy. Thank you again so much from the bottoms of our hearts!”

Tie-Dye — Ties Us Together

Thank you so much for the tie-dye kits. When I first showed my class what you purchased for them, they were so excited. Their eyes just sparkled, and they squealed with excitement. Although, I was a little worried about the mess, I was willing to set that worry aside to have fun and make memories with this amazing group of kiddos. We will be wearing the shirts for our school field day. It's always a great day with some fun competition between other second grade classes. These shirt will unite us and give us the edge to compete and win. Or maybe we will just be united in trying our best and having fun.”

Thank you, Donor! Your generous donation purchased our classroom a storage cart. We use the cart for academic manipulatives such as math counters, dice, and cards. We also use the cart for indoor recess equipment like legos and blocks. It keeps everything nicely organized. We have noticed how much quicker clean up is with this storage cart. We are able to transition from math or recess to our next activity without wasting a lot of time cleaning up.

Hands-On Learning with Play-Doh

My students love a good break from learning—also knowns as recess. When the weather is not so good, the playdoh you donated provides a fun way to create and imagine. The class often makes pretend pizza with the playdoh and asks me to put in my order for what kind of playdoh pizza I would like.
We also used the playdoh to create a map of the United States. Once we created our map with playdoh and let it dry, we painted and labeled it with different geographical features. Actually creating the map made it much easier for us to learn and remember the geographical features so we all received really good grades.”

Clean Classroom!

Our school is experiencing a shortage of custodians. Often our floor is swept, but not mopped. The custodians do the best they can, but often messes happen in between cleanings and having cleaning supplies in the classrooms helps sooooo much.
Honestly, teaching and learning is often really hard. It is mentally and physically exhausting. Teaching and learning in a clean environment really makes a big difference. It means that someone cares.

This year, I have such an amazing group of second graders. They are easy to teach and easy to love. We started the year with no recess equipment at all. I kept telling them their equipment was on the way and they waited so patiently.
When the equipment arrived and I unboxed it, they were so excited! We could hardly wait until recess that day. Many of these pandemic children needed to be shown how to jump rope, but they learned quickly.
These days, my second graders have mastered jumping rope. However, we are continuing to learn how to share the balls.
