Reading Nook
Funded Oct 20, 2022My students LOVE the books and new lamp! It brightens up the classroom and students have already expressed wanting to take the books home once they finish what they are already reading. MARCH by John Lewis will fit in very well with our social change unit in the winter and spring, as well as our current unit on contemporary politics. I plan on reading it myself before the spring so I can plan specific lessons around it. The Odyssey does not relate to our class as much, but I still am glad to have it just to provide another platform to connect to the kids with.”

Flexible Seating Area
Funded Aug 27, 2022The beanbag chairs are a perfect addition to my classroom. I now have a good space for students to work independently, take a moment to rest, and have a mental reset if the table space isn't working well for them. The beanbags are great for project work time or partner activities. I also love them because they get kids out of their regular seats and talking to one another.
Having my students go pick up the shipping boxes from the office put a smile on everyone's face due to the sheer size of the boxes. I remember worrying that they beanbags wouldn't be big enough, but that is definitely not an issue! Everyone laughed once my students came back with cardboard boxes around 3 square feet big.
I will attach photos of the beanbags soon, but for right now they came on the perfect day. To start this week, I did a calming journal activity about democracy and community. It was the perfect day for a beanbag to sit, chill out, and do some reflective writing.”
