  • Financial Literacy For Second Graders!

    Funded Oct 8, 2018

Thank you so much for providing these math materials for my students. Besides practicing in school during math workshop, now my students can also practice math concepts at home with their family. Both parents and children were thrilled to receive the materials. Students can now share and teach their parents the math games while parents can support their children at home.

Students are choosing the math games they will play and practice at home based on their own math goals. Some students are playing Five in a Row Addition with Three Cards to work on addition while others are playing Five in a Row Subtraction on various bingo boards. Parents are also helping their children tell time by the hour and half hour on the analogue clock.

Having concrete manipulatives to add, subtract, and tell time will ensure my students learn basic math concepts to develop future financial competency.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lui

  • Let's Get "Series" About Reading Part 3

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

Thank you for supporting reading in my second grade classroom. Right now, my students are reading about 20 minutes independently each day. Our goal at the end of the year is to read independently for 45 minutes to one hour. We will be reading and comprehending various kinds of fiction and nonfiction books. The books you have funded will help us achieve our reading goals.

Some of my students will read the books independently, while some students will read the books in partnerships. After reading, we have invigorating class discussions about the character's problems, character traits, and relationships with secondary characters.

The series books have also sparked a new interest in reading for my students. The recurring characters in the series allow them to have support as they read and discuss the books with their peers. Now, when we visit the public library, my students are looking for more books in the series to borrow to read and reread at home with their younger siblings and parents.”

  • Halloween Trick or Treating!

    Funded Oct 6, 2018

Thank you for funding our Halloween Treats project. The students absolutely had a blast decorating their pumpkins and masks. Students worked together to share the decorating kits to decorate their pumpkins. Then they designed their masks for witches, Frankenstein, and scare crows. Next, we paraded around the school building with our costumes and went trick or treating with our Halloween bags. Students collected candy, chocolate, and lollipops in a safe and fun environment. My students enjoyed visiting their kindergarten and first grade classrooms to collect treats.

Once again, thank you for providing this experience for my students. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Lui

  • Let's Get "Series" About Reading Part 1

    Funded Sep 4, 2018

Thank you for your generous donations to our classroom library. The books you have funded will motivate students to read more and more! Second graders love to read about the horrible things that Harry does in his second grade classroom. Students laugh hysterically over Harry's antics with snakes, cookies, diamonds, and secret spies. Another favorite character is Nate the Great. Students love to read about how Nate and his dog, Sludge solve mysteries! They love to share with me that Nate loves to eat pancakes and writes a letter to his mother in script in every book! I am so thankful that my students will have books in the library that they look forward to reading every day!

Once again, thank you for your support!”

    Ms. Lui

  • We Need A Clean And Healthy Classroom!

    Funded Sep 1, 2018

Thank you for supporting a germ free classroom! It is so important to stay ahead of the germs in a classroom full of students. The wipes will allow us to clean tables, chairs, doorknobs, shelves, and every surface in our classroom! We have also started to enjoy our yummy snacks. My students were wide eyed when they saw the whole bin of snacks for them! Now they can enjoy a snack during the day and after school! Their favorite snack so far are the Twizzlers!

Once again, thank you for all you do to keep our classroom clean and yummy!”

  • Having a Cool Time in Our Classroom!

    Funded Aug 31, 2018

Thank you for your support! We are so thrilled to be able to stay comfortable in our home away from home! With the weather so unpredictable, our classroom still gets hot and muggy. Having a fan to cool off our classroom makes it easier for us to stay cool so that we can focus on our work. We have also started to review telling time by the hour in our classroom with our clock. It is so important to have a working clock to learn how to tell time. As we start to have celebrations in reading, math, and writing, the kitchen ware materials will come in handy to help us keep our classroom clean.

Thanks a million for supporting us!”

  • Classroom Supplies For The School Year!

    Funded Jun 18, 2018

Thank you for funding the materials for our coming school year! My second graders will love the colorful book pouches to carry their books back and forth from school to home. The pouches will keep the books clean and students can easily use the elastic strap to carry the pouch around their homes and classroom to read. The calendars will allow students to keep track of important events at school and at home for the coming school year. The caddies will organize the materials (pencils, markers, erasers, Post-Its) students will use during the day in the classroom. The name tags will be an integral part of our school year when we go on trips or have special visitors in our classroom. The yard sticks and wooden cubes will be used during math workshop for our measurement unit.

Once again, thank you for providing all the materials we need to have a successful school year.”

  • School Supplies Needed!

    Funded Jun 18, 2018

Thank you for helping us get ready for the new school year! I know my second graders will be thrilled to see their writing, reading, math, Scholastic News, and homework folders ready on the first day of school! Pencils will be available for students to use in class and at home.
