• Kindergarten Math Come to Life!

  The children were so happy as they were opening the boxes with their new math materials. They immediately wanted to explore and play with the manipulatives. They are so much more engaged during Math time and look forward to meeting with me during small group instruction. They take such good care of the materials too and make sure that they are ready for use for our next math lesson.

  They feel so grateful that someone actually wanted to make sure that they had fun and learned all at the same time. Thank you for making my students so happy!”

• Racial Equity & Diversity For Kindergarten

• Capturing a Bilingual Community Through Literacy

  Thank you for helping to bring bilingual and dual language books to our classroom. Now, the children can see themselves in the bilingual library that make them feel connected to the stories that they read. One of my Spanish dominant students, K., came to me and said, "The girl in the book looks like me and she speaks Spanish!" I will always remember that "A-ha" moment of discovery and excitement that she found that day.

  As a bilingual teacher, it is important that My library be a place of joy and inclusivity. Thanks for helping me demonstrate to my students that they matter and their stories are universal.”

• Happy Lunar New Year For Kindergarten!

  The children were so excited to learn about Lunar New Year and even more so when they discovered it was the Year of the Dragon. We worked hard to learn about the customs, traditions, and the many delicious Asian American foods that are eaten too.

  We had so much fun learning, coloring, and decorating the room that I was inspired to have a mini Lunar New Year celebration in our classroom. I made sire to include, vegetable fried rice, vegetable lo mein, and we ate fortune cookies for dessert. I am so appreciative for all the donors on Donors Choose and thank you for helping me and my fellow colleagues make our wishes come true!”

• Warm Hearts, for a Healthy Start!

  This year more than ever my school community has truly struggled with providing basic needs and by having my Warmth project fully funded it has made a huge difference. The students and their families are so proud to wear their hats, scarves, and gloves set. They are very grateful that donors like you took the time to read and donate to our project. In their own words, "You mean people who don't even know us wanted to help us?!?!"

  I talk to my Kindergarten class everyday about the kindness in people and sometimes it very well can be people you have never even met. Thank to your generosity you have given my class hope and a belief in others. You helped to provide them what what they needed to ensure an increase in their attendance and in their confidence. • Kindergarten Supplies For A Soaring Start!

  They truly were amazed when they first saw the materials as I unpacked the boxes in the morning with their bright faces watching me. Every child has the supplies that they needed to complete their classwork and homework assignments. I made sure to label each item with their names and they were so proud. It has given my students the confidence to do their best each day!

• Cultural Corner Library

  It has been truly amazing to see how much more invested my students are with books that represents who they are and what they look like and more importantly in their native language. They have made connections to the stories, the characters, and have asked to read the same books more than once, which is helping with their reading fluency.

  They even bring in their moms and dads to look at the books and they proudly show off their favorite ones! They truly were surprised when they first saw the Cultural Corner section in our room. It has given the students the confidence and the validity in who they are and that their culture matters.

• Flexible Seats for Tiny Feet!

  It has been truly amazing to see how much my students use the flexible seats that was made possible with the generosity of our Donors Choose community. The children use our seating area for writing, reading, art, and so many things. They all ask me if they can sit in the flex seats, so to make sure that everyone has a turn, my students asked me to create a schedule. They are so kind to each other and they wanted me to make sure that I tell each of the donors that they are sending big hugs your way.

  They truly were amazed when they first saw the flex seats in our room. It has given our room such a brightness and a cozy feeling. Everyone that visits our room comments on how inviting the seats are. The flexible seats have allowed the children to become more engaged and diligent about completing their work.”

• Fill Up Our Book Nook

  Funded Oct 20, 2022

  On the day the packages arrived they were thrilled with what we found inside. There were books in Spanish, and they couldn't contain their excitement. They quickly asked if they could have their reading time right then and there and how could I resist their adorable faces with such a great request. Off to reading they went.

  What made the day even better was that it was the same day that I had given them new book baggies. The new books made them feel so special and they are now able to take their native language books home to continue their reading journeys.
