• Help Provide Essential Supplies to our Intensive Reading Classroom

  I wanted to thank you so much for helping to support our classroom! My students received many essential supplies that they needed, including tissues, Clorox wipes, paper towels, and bandaids. Students also received several supplies to help them with their classwork and projects, and including glue sticks, pencils, and erasers.

  My students were most excited about the stickers used for rewards! My students have been very motivated to complete their Reading Logs each week because they know that if they do an excellent job, they receive a sticker.

• Creating a Calming Reading Classroom

  I wanted to sincerely thank you for your support! My students have loved the Fish Lamp, the LED lights, the LED clock, and the Noise-Cancelling headphones! These tools have made my classroom much more calming, and they have helped me to create a better classroom environment where my students feel more comfortable learning. My students have especially been enamored with the Fish Lamp! All these tools have been a great addition to my classroom.

• Make Reading and Writing Fun for Struggling Students!

  Your donations have had a huge impact in my classroom. My students absolutely love the Calm Strips on their desks and they use them every day. The fidget toys have been a great addition to my classroom, giving students an extra outlet for their energy and helping them focus on their tasks. We also love using and referencing our reading posters as we review our reading strategies. Many students have found the line readers to support them in reading one line at a time. My students are looking forward to using our writing flipbook in the next quarter as we delve into creative writing. Students were able to achieve higher reading Lexile scores with help from these extra tools. We greatly appreciate all of your support!

• Graphic Novels for Struggling Readers

  We want to thank you again so much for contributing to our class! We have treasured the graphic novels that were donated to us and we have already used them in several Independent Reading assignments. All 93 students were very excited to see many new graphic novels and these books have been well-loved since entering our classroom. Students were especially huge fans of Invisible, Enola Holmes, and the Crossover series.

  During our Independent Reading time, students have the opportunity to silently read for 20 or more minutes in class with a novel of their choice. They use their novel to answer questions about the text or complete graphic organizer. Their Independent Reading time is especially helpful in not only building a love for reading, but also in having students practice the Reading Comprehension strategies they have learned in class, such as finding text evidence, summarizing, and finding the Main Idea of a story.

  Students love to pick out their own books and are always eager to read new books, especially graphic novels. A few students have been especially excited about the Minecraft book that was purchased for our classroom. They are huge fans of the book and have been reading it each week.
