  • Ravenous Readers

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

    Thank you so much for your generous donation to our Ravenous Readers project! We received the book series, and the students absolutely LOVE them! Our Spanish speaking students particularly love the Dragones y Tacos, Dragones y Tacos 2, and No Se Permiten Elefantes books. They really enjoy having me read them the English versions and then reading the Spanish versions to themselves and to one another. Our older (4th and 5th graders) are particularly excited about the Bad Guys series and the Press Start series. They have already made a waiting list for who gets to "check out" those books next. The David series, Fruits series, and Grumpy Monkey series are favorites across the grade levels.

  • Loving Literacy

    Thank you for your generous donation to our classroom! The students have loved doing the activities in all of the OG Materials books, and have really enjoyed reading the stories in the OG Decodable Readers. We read the stories together in class and discuss them, and then the students are able to take home activities from the materials books to practice in the evenings, too.

    Several of my students have told me about doing the activities at home with younger siblings, and one of the younger siblings that attends our school told his teacher that he can't wait until he's older and can come to my room like his sister.”

  • Decoding the Love of Reading

    Thank you so much for your generous donation to our class book sets! The students are loving them. Many of the students I work with are ESOL, and it is amazing to have book series that they are able to decode and understand. My older students are becoming much more confident readers now that they have started reading the chapter books and the students in all of the grades particularly love reading The Yak Pack series, since usually they don't have the chance to read "comics" as part of their school assignments. Having these books has made a huge difference to all of the students that I work with and we really appreciate your donations!!”

  • Reading Nook

    The kids LOVE their new reading spot!

    They were so excited the first day they came in and saw it, and since then getting to read on the "special chair" has become a favorite activity.

    They ask every day if it's their turn to use it, and on Fridays during free reading time, the student of the week from each group is allowed to pick a buddy to sit with them and they practice reading to one another.
