  • Collaborative Math Whiteboards

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Thank you for making this dream come true. My students and I are greatly appreciative of the contributions towards this project. We are looking forward to collaborating on deep thinking tasks on a vertical non-permanent surface. This will positively impact the learning experience of my current and future students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Poole

  • MoJo Fitness for All!

    Funded May 21, 2024

Contributions to this project allowed for students to explore different exercises! Students were able to engage in group workouts that included both body weight and dumbell exercises. Having these materials excited the students and allowed them to challenge themselves learning new moves and proper form.

Our goal was to expose students to a new experience and educate them on the possibilities available with little equipment needed. These dumbells will be continued to be used with future students, engaging them in physical activity when possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Poole

  • Student Work Wall

    Funded Sep 5, 2023

This project allowed for students to display their work on the walls of our classroom! Students created a mathematician biography: a one-stop-shop of their experiences, interests, strengths, and areas of improvement.

Students finalized this project with a self portrait and hung them up on the wall. Seeing their work up on the wall provides a sense of ownership in their learning environment. Viewing other student's work also promotes a positive culture among peers.

I plan to continue using these sleeves to allow students to update with their most recent projects, showing progress and learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Poole

  • Vertical Non-permanent Surfaces for Student Thinkers

    Funded Nov 9, 2023

My students are now able to engage in "standing tasks" at their new whiteboards! This classroom practice is inspired by the well known research done by Peter Liljedahl on Building Thinking Classrooms. Students are randomized into groups of three and sent on their way to tackle an open-ended math task at their whiteboard. They are able to explore new concepts and share their thinking in a way that makes sense to them. Having them work at a vertical surface increases engagement and allows for visibility for an all-class debrief discussion.

My students have provided formal feedback through surveys about this new structure. Overall, their responses are majorly positive! Group work is effective, distractions are minimal, and engagement is at an all time high. Students have expressed interest in the open-ended math tasks that allow them to think critically in their own unique ways. We are consistently using our new whiteboards on a weekly basis, thanks to our donors!”

    With gratitude,

  • Calculators for Growing Mathematicians

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

Thank you again for your contribution to my math classroom. I am finally able to offer a calculator to each and every student. Students have become so reliable on their phones, thus this tool is new for them. They're enjoying learning how to use calculators in an efficient manner, as they have many benefits over a phone calculator.

Thus far, my students have used the calculators to solve trigonometry and geometry problems. Being able to use a tool strategically is a California Standard for Mathematical Practice (SMP 5). A standard calculator is a new tool to many of my students and is supporting their growth related to SMP 5.

As they progress to college, I know calculators will be available to them. The calculators donated to my classroom are not only supporting my students in their current learning, but is also beneficial to their academic future.

Thank you for assisting me in supporting my emerging mathematicians!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Poole
