Funded Jan 22, 2025Thank you so much for believing in my project. This is a gift my students will treasure for a long time! I can hardly wait to attend the field trip. Thanks to you, their experience will follow them home with a special gift on their lockers. You are the best!”

Holes Book Party
Funded Nov 20, 2024The Holes book party is my most favorite time of my school year. I wait many months to be able to read the book and celebrate with my class. It is one of the most memorable things we do in 5th grade. Once we finish the text, we get to watch the movie and I (my donors) provide movie themed snacks for the students to have during the film. This is always the fun part as it reminds students of the things they have read throughout the book. This year I am thrilled to get to dress up as one of the characters with my suit and hat! I know my students will be absolutely thrilled to celebrate with our book party! This book party has led me into trying out other books and book parties with my class. As a result from last years party, my class this year has read The Wild Robot.”

Rainforest Terrarium
Funded Nov 13, 2024We are currently studying the rainforest as part of our language arts curriculum. Students have been tasked with using figurative language and sensory details to come up with a short story that they put into an ebook for student led conferences. This is always an exciting part of the curriculum where students get to showcase their skills and share them with their parents. To celebrate our accomplishments, we use the materials funded to put together rainforest terrariums. This project includes team building, creativity and incorporates what they have learned over the last 9 weeks about the rainforest. Thank you for providing the supplies they need for this hands on learning project.”

Funded Oct 3, 2024Thank you for adding new and exciting texts to my classroom library. My students and I love to read, so this was a project that I was very excited about. Currently, we are reading The Wild Robot as a whole class read aloud. We are discussing plot structure and characters as we go. When we read aloud, I am assessing for fluency and comprehension of grade level text; hitting a standard!
We read The Wild Robot 15 minutes a day a loud. Students get to pick where they sit in the classroom. Most students choose to sit in our comfy corner and some choose to sit at tables with flexible seating. Students can be seen but not heard, unless they are reading out loud, of course. My students are rule followers and are so engaged in the text! We are looking forward to reading more of the book and to see how it ends.
The Amulet and Lane Walker series have been flying off my library shelves. These have been popular books in class and my students are loving them. Thank you again for building their love of reading!”

Funded May 8, 2024The summer refresh supplies have been put to use to end the school year. I am happy to say they are also ready to be used in the fall, too. The retro stinky stickers will ALWAYS be my favorite student reward. They are unique and make students smile every time they receive one. The stickers are difficult to get, but, I make sure everyone gets at least one throughout the year. You can earn a sticker when you get a 100% on any test, show great improvement, or for stellar group work. I am looking forward to using these stickers in the fall!”

Funded May 6, 2024My students and I are using our new classroom art storage resources daily. Students are able to have their supplies accessible at all times when they need them. This provides me with more time to assist students on their school work. Our room is more organized, which again, provides me with quick routines and procedures to ensure a bell to bell teaching environment. Although I could not order all of the materials that were funded, due to out of stock status, I did get to have students voice what they thought our classroom needed to purchase using the remaining funds. Thank you for believing in my project!”

Funded Apr 22, 2024To end the school year, we explored natural disasters and what to do to prepare for them. In addition to our ELA curriculum, my class read the I survived books in small groups. This enriched our curriculum and provided students valuable reading time with their peers. After specials, students would come into the classroom, grab their chromebook and I Survived book and begin reading. They had a book club digital response journal to fill out as they read. I plan to do this same project year after year. Thank you!”

Funded Mar 25, 2024For Mother's Day, students got to create mini flower bouquets for a special person in their lives. The project started by having a student hand pick which flowers they would like to give to their person. We then used the brown paper to wrap around the dried flowers. Lastly, we tied a bow to the bottom to secure it in place. We placed it in a decorated bag to take home. When my students saw what we were making, they thought the idea was unique and they knew their special person would love it. The cricuit vinyl was used to personalize the bag, if the student chose to.
Thank you for believing in my project and for providing supplies for students to give something special to a person who means a lot to them.”

Funded Mar 25, 2024Thank you again for your generous contribution to our classroom. Our art supplies have been put to use after our return from spring break. We have been working on creating posters to showcase our athletes who were leaders of social change. Having the shared supplies has made it easier to complete art related tasks. My students are still swooning over the pastel pencils. They serve as great motivators in our class store. Some students, with spotless desks, were surprised with a new pencil on their desk to start their week. Every student will receive one in the next week if they have not yet.”

Incentive Refresh
Funded Jan 22, 2024My students have been earning incentives by showing their Digger Values in the classroom and around our school. Although there are behavior expectations, it is nice to reward students who are always doing their best and going above and beyond to succeed in school. That is where your donation money has been used; to reward students for being terrific role models. When the students saw the new prizes they were ready to spend their points to get the items. The new incentives gives students the motivation to work hard to get the prizes they want. Thank you so much for providing unique prizes for my students!”
