Staying Organized With Pouches!
Funded Aug 17, 2024Thank you so much for supporting our 7th graders this year! This will help our students stay on top of their organization and supplies all school year- no small feat for middle schoolers! We are so appreciative of you choosing our project to fund and can’t wait to get organized with our pouches!”

Fuel 7th Grade Success!
Funded May 24, 2024Your support allows students to demonstrate their academic potential without being prevented from doing their best by hunger. Getting a breakfast on a test day sends them a clear message that they are cared about. Thank you for your generosity and compassion in helping my students know that they are cared for and fueled for success.”

Funded Sep 26, 2023Thank you so much for supporting us in purchasing a color printer for the 7th grade at Spark to use! We love being able to print colorful diagrams, photos and displays to celebrate our students' hard work.
Creating class culture is a huge focus for us so to be able to hang up pictures of the students in their own classroom creates a sense that school is a place they belong. Students in my homeroom, the bears, have on lots of occasions referred to themselves as a family and share that they are proud to be a part of their class. This translates to real gains in learning- even the day before winter break we had higher attendance than any other year I've taught- in large part because I believe students like being at school, feel seen and belong here. As simple as it is, a color printer is a tool that helps make that happen and makes our school a more vibrant place every day!
Thank you so incredibly much for your support!”

Funded Jun 26, 2023Our students in this cohort have come in with more behavioral challenges than we've seen previously- in part due to the disruptions they've face from Covid! Because of this, having positive prizes to encourage them has been essential this year! The joy kids have shared as they've received things like gel pens, cute erasers or even fidget cubes has made our whole school year much better.
It's also helped build culture among the homerooms to feel rewarded for doing the right thing! Kids encourage each other and are supportive rather than competitive about our homeroom challenge, which makes it an even more positive experience for all.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for all your support!!”

Funded Jul 16, 2023This summer when I learned that our project got funded I became so excited about setting up my classroom for the school year! Throughout the process of setting up, I also got excited about how a professional, safe looking space would impact my students sense of comfort in our classroom.
My students this year are extremely high energy and move around the room a lot. Imagining the cable tangles we had this year is honestly scary and I'm so grateful for the way everything is neat, tucked away and secured down this year. My students have already expressed so much ownership over our classroom space and love helping keep the room tidy- a task that was much harder before when it involved sweeping over and around extension cords.
On a final note, some of the hardest working people in our building- our school custodians- have even mentioned to me that our classroom is one of the cleanest in the school at the end of each day now. Its little things like this that raise the morale of our whole school community, so thank you so much for making that happen for us!”

Funded Sep 14, 2022Thank you so much for the donation of books to our classroom library! The fact that we have complete series at a wide range of levels has really made reading much more exciting for my students. Kids from other classes even have walked through our classroom and remarked "I wish I was in this homeroom! Look at how many ______ books they have!"
Within my homeroom, students have read at least twice as many books per month as they did at the start of the school year. For many of them, its as easy as "I just finished this one, what is next in the series?" Students have begun to identify which kinds of books they like more, realizing that they love fantasy books like Wings of Fire or funny books like Dog Man or Big Nate. The fact that there are exciting books at a wide range of levels has helped my kids who are lower level readers get interested too and has resulted in them becoming much stronger readers.
Lastly, a surprising outcome of this project has been the connections students have made with each other through the books. Groups of friends have all read the same series and get excited telling each other about which ones they liked. Many of the girls in my class read through the entire babysitters club series and dork diaries books and bonded over enjoying them. More than once, I've seen kids showing each other the flip pages in the Dog Man books during breaks between classes. Some aspiring student artists have even begun making their own flip books and comics, inspired by those in the books.
These books are a treasure for us all and will continue to make reading more exciting, connecting and inspiring for my students for years to come. Thank you!!”
