  • Sensory Play

    Funded Jan 7, 2025

Thank you so much for your generous support of our sensory bin project! Your donation has made a huge impact on my TK students. With the variety of sensory materials, students have been able to explore textures, colors, and shapes while developing important skills like hand-eye coordination, scooping, and pouring. These materials have sparked meaningful conversations among peers and encouraged them to create their own games and stories based on what they discover in the bins.

The addition of themed items—like Valentine's Day hearts and winter-themed treasures—has brought excitement and seasonal joy into our classroom. The cozy blankets included in the project have also been a favorite. Students have used them for soothing moments, fort building, and imaginative play, which has boosted their creativity and strengthened their communication skills. This project has truly enriched our classroom environment and opened up so many opportunities for sensory exploration and social development. Thank you for helping bring this experience to life!”

  • Cozy Library and Books

    Funded Dec 31, 2024

Thanks to your generous donations, our TK students now enjoy a warm, inviting library where they can curl up with a book and develop a love for reading. Beyond the library, the pillows and blankets inspire creativity in dramatic play, allowing students to build forts, create imaginative spaces, and engage in storytelling with their peers—all while developing important social and problem-solving skills.

These cozy additions also provide comfort, offering a safe space for students to self-regulate and feel supported when they need a quiet moment.

Your kindness has made a lasting impact, fostering a nurturing environment where learning, play, and emotional growth thrive. On behalf of our students and staff, thank you for bringing warmth, imagination, and joy to our classrooms and library!”

  • Library Puppets

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

Our TK students have been using the puppets during their free play. They have been using their imagination to create stories with the puppets together. They have recreated stories that they have heard using the puppets but the best part for them is that they have been using them to rest with during rest time. They pick a puppet friend and they lay with them and find comfort with them.

Our TK students have also been using the felt stories during our literature time since many of the felt boards aligned with our nursery rhyme poems. They love seeing their oral poems come to life with the felt pieces.

This has help with developing language, social engagement, and class engagement. Students have used our library/puppet area a lot more thanks to donors like you!

We are grateful for all the support you have given our youngest scholars.”

  • Yummy Snacks for TK

    Funded Jan 29, 2024

Thank you so much for the support! Our students benefitted from having snacks available in the classroom. It changed their mood after recess, and they could concentrate longer during class.

We noticed that students were not only more engaged in the class, but they had more patience for each other. Having a snack during their recess also sparked conversations since many sat down together to eat.

Our class appreciates your support and your donation to our classroom and to the experience TK has in school!”

  • STEM Items for Future Engineers!

    Funded Jan 25, 2024

On behalf of our students, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your contribution to our classroom. The STEM items you provided have brought joy and learning into our space over the past few months.

The LEGOs and other STEM materials have increased students' curiosity, creativity, and communication as they learn to build, share ideas, and promote friendships.

All the choice items that the students have been able to use have also helped with classroom management as students had to communicate with each other, which provided extra practice in using their words.

We are thankful for your help in our project to bring more STEM items into the classroom, which increased the joy inside our TK classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Alvarado

  • Learning Through Our Senses

    Funded Nov 2, 2023

Thank you for your donation. This sensory table has been a wonderful addition to the classroom. The students were so excited to see that they received a package from so many wonderful people. They cheered when they saw that it was a sensory table and heard that they could play with sand, sensory beads, water beads, and so much more! Their faces lit up and they couldn't wait for it to be set up inside the classroom.

The students have been using the table daily as part of our center rotation. Every day two groups have the opportunity to use it or if they are done others can take a turn when there is a space open. They have explored dry, wet, gooey, and sticky sensory items in the bin. This is a great way for the students to go through different textures. I add different items inside the bin that helps them with fine motor skills, counting, seasonal themes, and collaborative play items.

I will be expanding the sensory bin play by adding letter of the week items inside so they can play with more letters as well as numbers. The students ask daily for a turn at the sensory table. Its been a wonderful hit in the classroom. Thanks to your contribution it added a new element of joy and excitement in the classroom.”

  • Light Up Their School Day With STEM

    Funded Oct 10, 2023

Thank you for your generous donations to the classroom's DonorsChoose. The package arrived during the school day. Knowing it had come, I let the students know I had a surprise for them. As the children sat on our classroom meeting carpet, I told them many amazing people had sent them a gift to improve their classroom. They were all so excited that people would be so kind to send them something. I let them know what it was and began unboxing it with them. They cheered with excitement as the item was unboxed. As a TK classroom, we review how materials are used in detail and through modeling. We talked about how it could be used.

The children in our classroom are four and turning five years old and learn through hands-on learning and experiences. The students have been using the light table to work with shapes and numbers and create patterns, and it has even been a great calming device for some children. It has given students another method of experiencing colors, shapes, numbers, and letters. As the students age, more complex activities will be available on the light table, but they have enjoyed exploring through their senses for now.

Thank you again for your donations to the project. You have made the student's first experience in school a memorable one.”
