  • Crafting Creativity: Empowering Students with Essential Tools

    Funded Aug 27, 2024

Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a more engaging and dynamic learning environment! The materials you provided have become integral to our daily activities, particularly in our poetry unit. For instance, the new set of poetry anthologies and creative writing journals has inspired students to explore their own voices. One memorable moment was when a student who typically struggles with confidence in writing shared a deeply personal poem, and their classmates erupted into applause. The resources have not only supported learning but also fostered a sense of community and mutual encouragement in our classroom.

We're currently using these materials for a project where students analyze poems from different cultures and create their own, blending influences from what they've read. Next, they will compile their work into a class anthology. Your contributions have made this hands-on, collaborative learning possible, and I can already see the impact on their creativity and confidence. Thank you for opening doors to such meaningful experiences!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Imburgio

  • Printing Possibilities: Help a Teacher Get a Printer

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your incredibly generous donation to our classroom. Your support has made a significant impact on both myself and my students, and we are truly grateful for your commitment to education.

Your donation has helped me out greatly as it allows me to print class materials for class with greater ease, allowing me to be more prepared and saves time before class. The addition of a printer has significantly streamlined my preparation process, allowing me to focus more on individualized instruction and fostering a deeper connection with each student. With your support, I can allocate more time to tailoring lessons to meet the diverse needs of my students and ensuring that each class is a unique and enriching experience. Your contribution has not only benefited the students directly but has also positively influenced my teaching approach, enabling me to create a more vibrant and engaging educational environment.

Thank you once again for your kindness and belief in the power of education.”

    With gratitude,

  • Books for Philly Kids

    Funded Mar 30, 2023

Thank you for your generous support of our project to introduce new books to our students. Your donation has made a big difference in their lives.

The new books that we were able to purchase with your donation have introduced students to a wide range of skills, including:

Critical thinking: Students have learned to think critically about the books they read, to question the author's point of view, and to form their own opinions.

Empathy: Students have learned to empathize with the characters in the books they read, to understand their motivations, and to see the world from their perspective.

Cultural awareness: Students have learned about different cultures and perspectives through the books they read.

Vocabulary: Students have expanded their vocabulary by reading new words and phrases in the books they read.

Reading comprehension: Students have improved their reading comprehension skills by practicing reading and discussing complex texts.

In addition, your donation has allowed us to begin having independent reading time every day. We also regularly discuss the books that students are reading in small groups and as a whole class.

We are so grateful for your support of our project. The new books that you have helped us to purchase are making a real difference in the lives of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Imburgio

  • Classroom Furniture and Basic Supplies

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. Your support is essential to my work, and I could not do it without you.

Your donation of new resources have made a huge difference in my classroom. For example, I am now able to provide my students with more hands-on learning experiences. I am also able to differentiate my instruction more effectively, meeting the needs of all learners.

Here are some specific examples of how I am using the new resources in my classroom:

I am using the coloring materials of markers and colored pencils to have students complete posters. These projects are fun and get students to use reading comprehension skills in a new way. For example, to get students thinking about set details for a play, I had students close read a scenery description and draw it on a large poster board. Students seemed super engaged in this project and actually tried to get the most details in the classroom!

The next steps for my students is to continue building my classroom library (we are always in need of more books!) as well as expand the use of hands-on learning and project-based learning in the classroom. I am confident that they will continue to make great progress with your support.

Thank you again for your generosity. I am so grateful for your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Imburgio

  • Supplies for Secondary Ed

    Funded Dec 20, 2022

Since receiving the supplies from this project, my students have been incredibly grateful for the new resources. I have been able to give my students a number of unique projects that require students to activate their creativity. For example, I had students complete a satirical advertisement poster that had them demonstrate their knowledge of irony. Using markers, colored pencils, and paper, this project - which could have been a boring test of skills - was interactive and students were completely engaged. I even had students who were not normally very interested in the class, actually participating and seemed excited to use the materials.

Now that I have an actual classroom set of materials, my capacity for teaching English has increased tenfold. I now have the freedom to be a lot more creative in assigning projects that students actually want to do and bring art into the world of literature. Thank you again for your generous donation. I sincerely appreciate it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Imburgio
