Ready, Set, Adult!! (Part II)
Funded Oct 6, 2022Thank you again for your generosity. Because we are a program that focuses on community, vocational, and independent living skills, organization is extremely important. The students need to learn to be responsible for themselves to ensure they meet their commitments like showing up to work on time and knowing when and where they should be.
With the Pocket Charts and calendar, we've been able to create a job board so each student can see their schedule and a community instruction board so everyone knows where they are going and who they are going with. Lastly, the month at a glance helps students plan ahead for events, holidays, birthdays, etc. We also use it to practice math skills (how many days left this month? etc). Thanks again.”
With gratitude,

Ready, Set, Adult!
Funded Aug 17, 2022Due to your generous donations, my students have been able to improve their knowledge and skills in the areas of hygeine, housekeeping, cooking, and fitness. Each morning, the students do a hygeine check in which they determine if they are well groomed and ready to start their day. They each have a hygeine box containing a washcloth, dental kit, deoderant and a brush to take care of any needs they might have. With the housekeeping materials, the students have become much more independent in maintaining a clean classroom where they wipe tables, sweep, mop, and clean the bathroom daily. We plan cooking activities several times a month and work on reading recipes and maintain a safe and sanitary environment in the kitchen area. Lastly, the fitness materials have provided us a means to stay healthy through a weekly exercise program. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for assisting me in creating a dynamic program for my students where they can grow and learn.”
With gratitude,
