Celebrating Our Differences and Our Feelings

Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! Creating a diverse library for my classroom couldn't have been done without your support! My students have really been enjoying the books I was able to purchase with your generous donations. Many of them have commented about how they can relate to the characters and feeling that the books talk about. Many of the feelings books are in my quiet corner for the students to read when they are experiencing BIG feelings.

I have been using several of the picture books as part of my social emotional curriculum. The students really enjoy the characters, and like to predict how the character might react to a situation. When a character doesn't react the way you might expect, the students discuss strategies that could help the character. Using mentor texts is a great way for children to learn!
