  • Organization at Its Finest

    Teaching students with special needs can be very challenging, but also really rewarding. Having a way to organize materials is really helpful. With the materials that were purchased for me and my classroom, I was able to organize our various file folder activities and my students' personalized handwriting papers. I am also able to organize the work that they have finished so that I can collect the appropriate data.

    From laminated papers to organizing our crayons, each item has been well loved and well used. I thank you all very much for supporting me and my classroom. I truly appreciate it!”

  • Snacks and Data

    My students LOVE to snack, and having a large amount of items that they enjoy is helpful. Because my students are non-verbal, having items that I know they enjoy helps get us through the day. From getting to have some popcorn daily, to enjoying some salty pretzels every now and then, my students have really enjoyed the selection of snacks that were provided.

    Having data folders and a place to store them is also helpful for me. I am able to track their progress on goals and see how far they have come. My students are with me from the moment they walk into the building until the moment we load them back onto the bus to go home. I take a lot of data every day and having reliable places to take their data and store their data is very helpful for me and my staff.”

  • Creating Art and Gifts

    Thank you so much for donating to my classroom and helping my students to create art and gifts for family and friends. My students helped to design cups for staff members and gave them as gifts. My students also made decals for vehicles and offices of staff. They really enjoyed having opportunities for expression, when they didn't have a voice to speak.

    All of my students are non-verbal, so having a creative outlet made sure my kids had a voice. Seeing their smiling faces when they created something was the best gift I could have received from my students. We even had creative times with pudding and cool whip, where they could finger paint and eat it at the same time...those were great times!”

  • Help Me Help My Students Learn

    This year has been one of a lot of challenges but also a lot of success. I teach a class of students in Life Skills, so they all have disabilities. All the items that I requested and received have helped me help my students grow in some way. Special scissors have helped my students start to learn how to cut things out. The peanut balls have helped my students with their vestibular sensory needs. The snacks have helped feed their bellies when they don't eat lunch because they don't like it or are just extra hungry.

    Each time I got out a new item or received a new item and brought it into my classroom, my students would come over to the box and look in to see what I had gotten. They are all curious to see what is new and when I would bring something out, like food, my students would immediately want to eat it. It was always hard for them to wait, but they would.”
