We Like to Move It, Move It!
Funded Sep 16, 2024I just want to say thank you so very much for the additional funding for my project. I was able to purchase small hand weights for the students in my Step Aerobics Class. The kids were thrilled!
Many of my students would not have the opportunity to engage in this type of class. Your generous donation allows them to participate in an activity that is different, fun and good for their overall health. It is a win all around!
Please accept my heartfely gratitude for your generosity! It is truly appreciated!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nancy Fackelman
I Like To Move It Move It!
Funded Aug 16, 2022I grew up in the Kensington section of Philadelphia. As a child, I lived around the corner from a Salvation Army. As a young girl, I would often see adults heading to an aerobics class at the Salvation Army and I remember the feeling I had. I wanted so badly to join that class but I knew that I was just a kid and that it wouldn't be possible. Fast forward to a few months ago. I had an idea of starting a Step Aerobics Class at my school for our students. Thanks to all of your generous donations, you made my dream become a reality!
My Step Aerobics Class is comprised of third, fourth and fifth grade girls and boys. I absolutely love that some of our boys joined! I also love that the kids come with all different ability levels. They have really grown in their ability to step since we started. It is so exciting to see their growth!
One of my favorite things about this class is that some of the kids that joined are truly kids that most people would consider, at risk. One of the boys that fits this description, sees me on the mornings of step class and always makes eye contact with me and says, I'll see you after school in step, Mrs. Fackelman. The look in his eye makes me excited for what this class has brought to these kids. His excitement is my excitement.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my dream a reality. I am so very grateful that these students get to experience something at a young age that I had to wait many years to do. Experience is everything for our city kids and I'm so happy that with your help, I am able to give them a truly unique experience that they may not have otherwise had the opportunity to do!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Nancy Fackelman
