Art Smart Sketchbooks
Funded Nov 10, 2023Thank you so very much for donating the materials needed for students to make their very own sketchbook in art class. Your donation has made a positive impact on my students and they are enjoying them every day of school.
Students loved designing the covers that incorporated learning objectives on the Elements of Art. While they created the covers many of them would sing the songs associated with each Element of Art. Students were having "fun" while learning in the process and were highly motivated to complete their design. Upon completion, I used the materials to assemble their sketchbook as a reward. The sketchbooks are used for "free drawing" to practice drawing skills and for writing to practice vocabulary comprehension.
Students often ask to take their sketchbook home to work in them and show family members their progress. They are so proud and value the importance of art in education.
Thank you again for contributing to a wonderful cause and supporting the arts in education!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bradshaw

Funded Sep 12, 2022The white copy paper, binding combs, and clear covers have been extremely useful in the designing and assembling of sketchbooks for 500 middle school students at our school. Every year all the students design a meaningful cover for their sketchbook which will be used in the art room throughout the year. Students use the sketchbooks to practice creative thinking skills and draw thumbnail sketches as drafts for their final pieces of art. Also students are using them to add writing which coincides with their art, such as artist statements and art vocabulary. Students are always enthusiastic to use them for "free drawing" or drawing for fun! They constantly ask to take the sketchbooks home. I love that they have pride in their work!
The grade five students are especially excited when they learn about designing the cover for their very own sketchbook. When they see the sketchbook assembled with a clear cover on the back and front and 30 blank pages inside, their faces lite up with joy!
Students will continue to use their sketchbook in art as a valuable resource for writing, drawing, and even painting. They will be able to take them home to keep at the end of the year. Students tell me that they have kept one from each year that they have been in the middle school. Thank you for contributing to such a valuable project for art class and supporting the importance of art in our schools.”
