Welcome to Ms. Barker's history class! I have the pleasure of teaching Civics, Oklahoma History and U.S. History at U.S. Grant High School. My classes are exclusively for ELL/newcomer students. This means that I work with students who have recently moved to the United States, and speak a first language other than English (English Language Learners). Most of my students are originally from Latin America and South America. Recently, we have also welcomed students from Afghanistan, Cuba, and the Marshall Islands. Our classroom is in need of visual elements, including maps, historical images, and a word wall. Also, I want to provide my students with some basic supplies, personal hygiene products, sensory tools, and snacks to help them feel comfortable and ready for their day. I am looking forward to seeing my students excel as we add these new elements to our classroom.
