  • Calm Down Corner

    Funded Jan 29, 2025

"New toys!", "Look at the fidgets", "Look timers, pillows and a squishy", "Can we use them?"

These are just a few of the words of excitement as I unpack our sensory treasures from your generous donation. As the students gather we talk about how amazing it is that someone would give materials to help us learn and regulate our bodies in our classroom. We discuss being thankful. We unpack each item as a gift, we discuss how we take good care of our things. At station time we learn to use the materials with an adult. We discuss feelings and how to use these items within the calm down corner. Learning through hands on experiences has such an impact on our students. Thank you for helping us encourage a love for learning, creating a space for good mental health and calming techniques that will last a lifetime.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Wetzel

  • ABC's and 123's

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

We cannot Thank you enough for your generous donation to our classroom. Providing hands on materials for our littlest learners helps them to use their five senses while learning. As they learn through play, they are building essential pre-academic skills on a daily basis. By using a variety of materials the students will be working on letter recogniton and basic math skills (counting and naming numbers.) Hands on activities are a fun and engaging way to teach skills that will last them a lifetime. Thank you for helping us create this amazing learning environment for our students.”

  • All About Learning!

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

"New toys!", "Can we open them?", "What did we get?" These are a few of the comments as the students enter the classroom and see new materials being opened for them to use. The excitement is contagious and we open the box together at circle time. We name each item, how it will help us learn and how to take care of the gifts (materials) we have been given. The students are so thankful for new puzzles, letter building materials and much, much more. We truly appreciate the generous donation and we all shout...Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!”

  • Stools for Writing

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! What an amazing addition to our classroom. The stools fit perfectly at the back counter where students can participate in writing, drawing, coloring or working independently during free choice time. The students love to choose the writing station to practice name writing, choose a color page, make cards and letters in a post office station. The stools are sturdy, comfortable and age appropriate for our students and this station is filled daily! Thank you so much for the generous donation to our classroom. These stools for writing will be used daily for years to come, encouraging a love for writing and creativity.”

  • Making Reading Fun ALL Day Long!

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

Books are such an amazing gift to give to children and we say, "Thank You!" There are a number of different skills children learn when using books. These skills include holding books correctly, turning pages gently, how to treat books and keep them nice for others to use again and again. They also learn about the jobs of an author and illustrator.

Reading in our classroom comes all throughout the day. In an early childhood classroom, reading is making up stories as we look at the pictures. It is making guesses about the story because we can't "read" the words. It is being exposed to new ideas, animals, places, etc.

My students love to look at books throughout the day; during free choice time, designated book time or if they finish their station early. The boys are particularly excited about the dinosaur books, how to catch a dragon book and the vet books. The girls enjoy the mini readers and books about jobs. Many of my students have very little background knowledge and books are a wonderful way to teach students about many different topics. We are thankful for such a variety of books for our classroom.”
