Real World Reading Resources
Funded Aug 12, 2024Thank you again for helping to support our students. Scholastic News brings educational and interesting topics to the children that motivate them to read and excite them in ways that sometimes our regular curriculum doesn’t. The topics covered are relevant, sometimes historic, scientific or of human interest. There is also a video component that really helps draw them into the articles. After we read the articles and partake in debates and discussions, the children bring them home to share with their families. It’s really a great addition to our classroom and their education.”

Fostering Students' Musical Abilities
Funded May 19, 2023Thank you for donating to our students musical education. The recorder has been an entry point for many children to understand how to read and play music. They are having a blast learning with their very own recorders and song books and even happily give up their recess for lessons!
I have received feedback from excited parents as well, who are happy that their children are expanding their artistic abilities and enthusiastic to learn a new skill. Thank you so much for helping me bring this opportunity to fruition.”

Ms. Bavaro
Students Need Relevant Reading Materials
Funded Jul 30, 2023The students in my class are really enjoying the Scholastic Newspapers! Every Friday we read them together. We begin by watching the video component of each article which gives context and visuals that motivate them to discover more about the topic. Students then take them home to read with their families over the weekend.
These newspapers have provided students the opportunity to explore and discuss current events, other cultures and history. Without these articles, they may not be exposed to these topics. They look forward to reading them, together, each week as the issues always present relevant, 3rd grade friendly articles.”

Fostering Students' Musical Abilities
Funded Oct 21, 2023I am so excited to know that such wonderful people stepped up to ensure that my 3rd grade students will have access to playing a musical instrument. I can't thank each of you enough for your kindness and generosity. These students are quite a creative group and always looking for ways to express themselves through art and movement. Now they will have another outlet to explore. Thank you for giving them this opportunity, I can not wait to see their faces when the recorders and music books arrive but more importantly I can not wait to see the excitement on their faces when they realize they can play music!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bavaro

Funded Nov 28, 2022Thank you so much for your donation that made it possible to bring art projects into my 4th grade intergrated - co-teaching classroom.
The students were so excited when the boxes arrived with all of the supplies. Every Friday, after lunch the kids engage in a different project that they so look forward to. They have exploded with water paints, created pencil cases, had a lesson on pointillism and created their own version and made wiki stick people just to name a few of the projects.
This particular group of students is exceptionally creative and I again thank you for supplying them with the materials to allow them to express themselves through art.”

This classroom project was brought to life by The Walt Disney Company and 4 other donors.Students Need Relevant Materials to Help Them Excel
Funded Sep 29, 2022Our students are getting so much out of the resources that your donations made possible. They were so excited when the resources first arrived (Scholastic Newspapers and Math manipulatives) and we have been using them to help close the learning gap that occurred due to the events in the past few years.
The Scholastic News Papers are read in guided small group instruction every Friday, immediately after we view relevant videos pertaining to the content, provided by Scholastic, as part of the subscription. The articles are high interest and the students look forward to reading them in class and taking them home to review with their families over the weekend. It not only provides students with relevant information but supplies families with interesting reading material to read with their children.
The math manipulatives that we received are fantastic! The students were so excited when they arrived, and look forward to using them in our math block. Hands-on learning is the best way for many learners to gain a deep understanding of the curriculum and it's fun for them as well.
Again, thank you so much for providing our students with these valuable resources they are really making a difference in our classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bavaro
