  • An Ear-Resistable Approach to Building Reading Skills

    Funded Oct 5, 2022

The inspiration to teach scholars to read is the biggest reward by far. You have them read as a group and have them take turns reading. They love to listen to each other and if you read and show expression when reading they follow your lead, eventually you will have them reading the same and they enjoy doing it. The way it looks in my classroom is we read as a whole group during class and at the beginning of class they read independently for the first 20 minutes. Sometimes when they are done with their assignments they will have time to read in the corner, sitting at their desk, or under their desk. They love to be under their desk and read. Some scholars love the books, because those were books chosen by them and they love to write about what they are reading. Thank you to all who supported my scholars and I with these amazing books and prizes. It is truly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Guerra Constante

  • Building Reading Skills One Book at a Time

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

My scholars loved the new classroom library with a new large variety of books to choose from. It gave them a broad array of genres and topics to read. It encourages their confidence and independence to become better readers. This is building their schema and their comprehension as well.

So the way reading looks like in my classroom is that all my books are on shelves. The books are scanned and programmed on my phone. They check out a book and either read at their desk or in the reading corner. They read for 20 minutes at the beginning of class each day.

The majority of the scholars love to read and they are enjoying it because there is a mixture of genres to choose from. I make it fun also by having them read in the dark with flashlights. Thank you donor choose for helping me create a fun and amazing library for my scholars to enjoy.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Guerra Constante

My students are incredibly bright and they strive to reach any goal given. They have a passion for reading and I want to make sure that they have a classroom library with a variety of different books. My students have a capacity of higher thinking skills and they love to be challenged. The other little knick knacks are incentives to help them read and reach their goals.
