Creative Arts

Funded Sep 9, 2022

My 5th grade students have used these resources for their own interpretation of the Declaration of Human Rights. Students allowed their artistic abilities to transcend through their art work while inspiring the importance of each declaration. In the first Module of the ELA curriculum, our students deepened their understanding

"What are human rights?"

"How can our human rights be threatened?"

And "How can we use writing and art to raise awareness?"

Today we will embark on the student creative work and their interpretation of the universal declaration of human rights.

Together students engaged in the reading of Esperanza Rising in the classroom and connected that work with what is advocacy and why it is important in the art labs. We looked at different mediums of art and how this art brings awareness based on the colors and textures used. Most importantly we looked at advocacy through the lens of young activists and why students voice matters.”

With gratitude,
