  Thank you for your donations. They have made a huge impact in my classroom. This resource allowed all of my students to have access to the same materials as others and be able to have the same tools for success. These funds allowed my students to still get the enrichment that so rightly deserve while also being individually accommodated. Lessons that can be created/altered because of this generosity have allowed my students to take responsibility in their own education and executive functioning skills. My students love the resource center with the bright office supplies.

• The Right to Love Reading

  In my classroom every student comes to me as a struggling reader with a learning disability to add to the struggle. It is difficult to find books that have content that will keep my students interest my students while also being written on a level they can understand. So graphic novels have been super helpful. They support students who might not know all of the words while allowing them to follow the story through the pictures. I have also ordered a couple of the same books so that I can work in small groups or 2-3. In one of the small groups we worked on the Diary of a Whimpy Kid books. My student thought the story was funny and challenging but not too difficult. We were able to talk about story elements and apply them to the text. This offered hands on learning for each of them. My students love walking into the library in our classroom and being able to find a book that they like and just hang out and read. our school library can be overwhelming for them and has many many books above their reading levels. My classroom library allows them to feel safe and explore new stories without the stress.

• Rewards and Prizes

  I work with ESE students and they typically work tremendously hard for the same success that comes to others more easily. I deeply believe this effort deserves acknowledgement and when appropriate a prize. In my classroom my students earn tickets based on tasks they complete and scores they earn. One student finally earned the 8 tickets he needed and he was so excited to get a fidget. I could see how much he valued the item because typically this student looses everything and he came back each day that week with the fidget in hand. This is just part of the impact that is made with this type of resource. I also have other students save up their tickets for an extra snack because food is not readily available to them. Of course there are many that enjoy the quick piece of candy and a sticker.”
