Joyful Learning With Literacy Games
Funded Sep 16, 2023My students are thrilled by all the amazing literacy resources we are using this year. One highlight is the game Rapid Rumble, where students have to use their quick thinking to come up with items in a category. It requires them to dig deep and recall words and phrases starting with a specific letter of the alphabet that falls into the category. Recalling words develops lasting connections in their brains and increases their vocabulary.
Another highlight is Friday reading group. We are currently underway reading Flora and Ulysses and creating a graphic organizer for the story and another for character traits. The students improve reading skills by reading aloud together.
Lastly, students were excited to participate in Readers Theater and perform for their classmates. This activity is requested frequently due to it's popularity. The resources you generously raised funds for have allowed students to gain literacy skills in novel and exciting ways.”

Fun Sensory Learning for All Students cont.
Funded Nov 29, 2022Your donation helped me purchase high quality phonics activities to use with reading instruction. The students love to use the Lakeshore packs independently to match the word or sentence with a corresponding picture. The Lakeshore sentence match activity has a visual and tactile component. As the student reads they can touch the raised dot under the letter. This multi sensory approach helps them connect the sound with the letter and then they can blend the sounds into a word. In addition, this purchase included beginning phonics books for students to build confidence reading at their level.
Thank you for completing my first Special Education classroom with these awesome supplies!”

Funded Aug 9, 2022My students love having materials to hold. They enjoy feeling the shape of a letter in their fingers or building letters and words with clay. These materials have made a huge impact on students learning to read, write, and do mathematics. Students especially get excited to play games, and they forget they are learning valuable life skills in the process. These materials make learning fun and impactful in my small groups! My room has a warm and welcoming atmosphere because of the beautiful posters of encouragement provided by your gift. I am so grateful to you for making my first year so positive and productive!”
