  • Racial Justice and Representation Books

    Funded Jan 10, 2025

Thank you once again for funding our Racial Justice and Representation Books project. These books have truly made a meaningful impact in our 1st grade classroom. They've helped my students feel seen, valued, and included, while also teaching important lessons about empathy, fairness, and respect.

The diverse stories sparked thoughtful conversations—about what Diwali is, what the word intayon means and the language it comes from, and which countries the stories take place in. My students are genuinely excited to hear stories from around the world. They've learned the meaning of ohana, and they understand more than ever that we all belong and that our skin color should never affect our happiness or self-worth.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping create a more inclusive and thoughtful learning environment for my students.”

  • Let's Celebrate Lunar New Year 2025 Part 2.

    Funded Dec 27, 2024

I cannot thank you enough for your incredible support in helping me bring the joy and excitement of "Let's Celebrate Lunar New Year 2025 Part 2" to my students! Your generosity made it possible for our classroom to experience the beauty of this cultural celebration in a meaningful and engaging way.

My students absolutely loved the Meiji panda cookies, which brought huge smiles to their faces as they enjoyed a sweet treat while learning about Lunar New Year traditions. The paper dragons were a huge hit as well! They were thrilled to wave their colorful handheld paper dragons which they got to take home. They were surprised to see a 3D Chinese Paper Dragon Garland hanging over our Number Corner area of the room.

Moments like these help build appreciation for different cultures, and create lasting memories for my young learners.

Thank you for making this celebration so special. Your kindness and generosity continue to make a difference in the lives of my students, and we are truly grateful for your support.”

  • Let's Celebrate Lunar New Year 2025!

    Funded Dec 26, 2024

Thank you so much for funding our "Let's Celebrate Lunar New Year 2025!" project. My students were so excited upon receiving the materials to help us celebrate. Most of them didn't even know what Lunar New Year was about. So having these materials were perfect to help them learn about this celebration.

My students helped me unbox the decorations and they helped put it together. They also helped me hang them up on a string lined across the room . We read the book called Chinese New Year and learned about the different traditions done during this time. My students also tried to use chopsticks with the help of the chopstick helper. Some were ambitious enough to try them without as well.

My favorite part was when I was teaching them about the red envelope. We learned about how they should accept them and when and where to open them. My students were so cute. As I handed them their individual red envelope, they humbly bowed and said "xie xie". They all found a spot in the room to open their envelopes in "private". That melted my heart . Anyway, thank you so much for providing us with these materials and allow my students to experience Lunar New Year.”
