Materials for ESL Students
Funded Nov 23, 2024The generous donation of a laminator, post-it papers, and clipboards has already made a meaningful impact in our classroom. The laminator has allowed us to create durable learning materials, from reusable vocabulary flashcards to visual aids that support English learners. The post-it papers have been a game-changer for group projects and brainstorming sessions, giving students a space to collaborate, organize their thoughts, and share ideas in a visual and interactive way. Clipboards have made learning more flexible, allowing students to move around the room, work in small groups, and engage in hands-on activities without being confined to their desks. These supplies have helped foster a more interactive and organized learning environment where students feel empowered to participate.
One of the most exciting aspects of the laminator, in particular, has been the ability to create personalized learning tools that students can use repeatedly. Several students have especially warmed to this, including a few who struggle with writing confidence. With laminated writing templates and graphic organizers, they can practice without the fear of making mistakes, erasing, and trying again. The clipboards have also made a significant difference for students who benefit from movement, giving them the freedom to take their work to different areas of the classroom. Seeing their excitement and increased engagement has been a joy, and we are so grateful for the resources that make this possible!”

Funded Aug 15, 2024We are using the new resources to enhance hands-on learning and creativity. For instance, we recently worked on a project where students created posters about famous landmarks around the world. The new art supplies and materials gave them the things that they needed to carry out this project.
In January we will be creating models of geographic features using the clay. These materials will allow student to create vibrant, detailed models, which will bring their learning to life.
The students are very happy to have all of the supplies that they need in our classroom. Many students are not able to afford their own supplies, so this has been a huge help to me as a teacher and to our classroom. Thank you again for your support!”

Funded Dec 24, 2022Thank you so much for your generous gift. It's not everyday that worlds intersect and this is kind of what happened in our social studies classes and advisory classes. Students were overjoyed to see all of these familiar social media tools that they see with their favorite tiktokers and instagram influencers: lights, tripods, microphones, and a nice way to store it all. They immediately took control of the project and expanded beyond what we originally thought they might do: Besides making fun reels and videos like World War II Reporter and Ancient Philosophers of Instagram, they interviewed each other about hot topics like metal detectors in school and drugs in the bathroom. This has been so much fun!
Your generous donation allowed us to really add to the students' school experience. Their entire world is social media and with this project, they just were able to expand this world into school. The joy of seeing our students interacting with different content in a fun but school appropriate way is just priceless. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

Funded Nov 26, 2022Thank you so much for your kind donations. This year has been a challenging but productive one for our school, and we of Titans Mundial have done our best to accommodate this and succeed in our mission of authentic language practice and school unity. At the start of the year, our time for meeting, which was during a long lunch free period, was canceled. There were repeated promises that it would be reinstated, but late-Winter we learned that it would not be coming back. Our students have not been idle, though.
Students in Titan Mundial from the International Academy as well as from the upper-level Spanish courses and rest of the school have worked together to record some videos practicing their Spanish and English during the short time that we have in school to meet. The plan right now is to continue to do this, introducing an element of independence where students travel around through the day and during lunch and use the camera to practice a target set of vocabulary. The resultant videos will be edited on the iPad and sent to the school's instagram page, where they will be published.
The camera and iPad have been used for this entire time. In addition to using the camera for Titans Mundial activities, we used the camera to record for cultural events for the Afghan and Latino communities. The iPad was used in the advisory period to edit videos and for a video conference. We hope to use the iPad more for a Titans Mundial call towards the end of the year as we get used to the new schedule and have more time.
Thank you so much for the support of our project. Titans Mundial will become a permanent part of our school culture, we hope, and future students will continue this inter-school and inter-cultural exchange of ideas and friendships. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”

Ms. Black
