  • Sensory Adventures for My Special Education Classroom!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

I would like to start off my sharing my gratitude and thank you for your donation to my project. My students were so excited when they saw the new addition to the classroom and each wanted a turn stepping on the sensory tiles. The sensory tiles are so relaxing and interesting for my students and they are always excited when they see the tiles out in the classroom.

I use the sensory tiles during center time as a way for students to take a sensory break and also as a way to have students interact with one another. I will ask students to take turns going to different colors, which also helps with working on following directions.

Thank you for your support in making my classroom a fun and engaging environment, it is very much appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chelsea

  • Cooking in the Classroom!

    Funded Jan 10, 2023

Thank you for your contribution to my DonorsChoose. Having a microwave in the classroom has made our Fridays more effective and enjoyable for both my students and myself. Since having the microwave in the classroom, we have been able to follow yummy recipes that we haven't been able to make in the past.

Having the microwave in the classroom has allowed my students the opportunity to become more familiar and comfortable using this appliance. We have gone over the safety instructions and how to input the correct amount of time. When we began, several of my students interacted with the microwave as if they have never used one before. Now all of my students are able to open the microwave, place the popcorn inside and punch in 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Thank you again for your donation, myself and my students are very thankful.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chelsea

  • iPads to Help Our Classroom Grow!

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for your previous donation to my DonorsChoose Project, in which I was fundraising for iPads for my classroom. It has been over a month that the students have been using the iPads, and it has been incredibly impactful on their learning. By gaining four iPads, I am now able to lead whole group lessons with each student having their own device to work on.

The main use of the iPads has been to implement our Unique Curriculum which largely focuses on students reading and reading comprehension as well as a variety of mathematical subjects. Using the iPads, students are able to read along to the story that is being presented and then work independently to answer story based questions. My students have also been working on becoming more confident with technology, and using the camera on the iPad, they will scan a QR code to log into their Unique accounts. I have also added different sensory and art based apps to one of the iPads. When I am working 1-to-1 with a student, they are beyond excited to create an art piece or make sounds using different musical instruments.

Lastly, I would like to say thank you again for your donation, it is very much appreciated by both me and my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Chelsea
