Curriculum at My Fingertips!
Funded Dec 21, 2022Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to make this school year so amazing for my students.
This was my first year teaching second grade and if there's one thing about second grade - you celebrate EVERY holiday. Your generous donation helped me to find activities and fun projects so my students could learn about each other's cultures and the different holidays people celebrate around the world. Anytime there was something special happening, we celebrated!
You can see the smiles on these kids faces and the joy these projects brought them.
We even had some extra funds to help us buy some hands on extension games for our math units.
When you don't have a curriculum at your fingertips, you tend to spend a lot of your own money filling in the gaps. Thank you for helping me to be able to make this my best year of teaching yet.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Sexton
Social-Emotional Learning
Funded Dec 16, 2022This was my first year completing a Donors Choose project. I thought for sure I would never receive all my materials. I was in disbelief when I saw the email congratulating me!
This year I moved to second grade after teaching fourth grade for 8 years. I was so excited, but knew that with it came needing to make a lot of changes. My second graders are the end of what we know as our "covid kids". So many of them never completed preschool, learned at home on a computer for Kindergarten, and still wore masks for part of the year last year. I knew that what these students needed most this year were those social skills they missed out on for the 3 years prior.
I decided I was going to base my whole classroom on Social-Emotional Learning, beginning first thing in the morning. My students were so lucky to have received so many materials that allowed them time to strategize and work together. My student's have never built such great relationships as they had this year. That is all because of you and your generosity.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping to make my dream come to life.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Sexton
