Funded Dec 28, 2024Thank you for your generous donation of kite making supplies to our 7th grade classroom. Our students recently attended a local high school musical production of Mary Poppins and when we returned to school students were so excited to make their own kites, just like the kids in the play. We followed directions from "20 Kids, 20 Kites, 20 Minutes" developed by a wonderful man named uncle Jonathan on the island of Molokai. Students carefully folded kites using the paper you donated, taped them and cut tails using the scissors we appreciate so much.
The kite string came in so handy because in years past, teachers have had to cut string and wind it on toilet rolls for students to use. Many students had never even flow a kite, let alone make their own. This kite making and flying opportunity was the perfect blend of art and science and students got to observe the historically documented winds of Lahaina, Kauaʻula and Ma'a'a with this activity as well.
We appreciate your generosity and kindness and send a big mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) on the breezes we fly our kites.”

Funded Dec 14, 2024Thank you for your generous donation of doodle notes to our science classrooms. Because of your kindness I can focus on supporting my diverse learners. Your support ensures students success.
Doodle notes offer a dynamic approach to learning, significantly boosting student engagement and retention. By combining visual and textual elements, they activate multiple areas of the brain, creating stronger neural pathways for information processing. This method allows students to translate abstract concepts into personalized visual representations, fostering deeper comprehension and making learning more meaningful. Furthermore, the act of doodling itself can reduce stress and improve focus, creating a more relaxed and effective learning environment.
Beyond enhanced comprehension, doodle notes promote active learning and creativity. Students are not passively receiving information; they are actively synthesizing and transforming it into their own unique visual language. This process encourages critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as students must identify key concepts and translate them into meaningful doodles. Additionally, the personalized nature of doodle notes makes them excellent study tools. Students can easily recall information by revisiting their own visual representations, making review sessions more engaging and effective
Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) from Maui. With warmest aloha from the Valley Isle.”

Craft Club Fun Includes Everyone
Funded Oct 14, 2024You generous donations have provided my students with the opportunity to craft and create using the most diverse array of craft supplies I have encountered in 13 years of teaching. Because of your kindness, students are experiencing hands on learning and 3D art in engaging ways as well as communicating their experience through collaboration with their peers.
When students have the opportunity to attend "Crafternoon" during their lunch time, they are learning so much more than a craft. Students are forming bonds with their peers, problem solving and gaining fine motors skills in addition to having fun. They are so excited to share their experiences with others. By sharing the information with their classmates, they solidify their understanding and gain confidence in themselves. Their faces just light up from the excitement and

Funded Aug 30, 2024I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the generous grant we received to purchase differentiated NGSS curriculum. This new curriculum has had a profound impact on my students' learning experience.
The interactive elements of the programs purchased have significantly enhanced student engagement. The ability to visualize complex scientific concepts through simulations and virtual labs has made learning more accessible and enjoyable. Additionally, the adaptive assessments allow students to work at their own pace, reinforcing their understanding of key topics.
The most exciting aspect of this new curriculum for my students is undoubtedly the hands-on activities and experiments. They are thrilled to have the opportunity to conduct real-world investigations and analyze data. The opportunity to collaborate with peers on projects has also fostered a sense of teamwork and critical thinking.
Several students who previously struggled with traditional learning methods have thrived with this new curriculum. The interactive simulations have allowed them to grasp concepts that were previously challenging. Similarly, many students, who often find it difficult to stay focused, have been captivated by this curriculum. Many mahalos for your generous support. Your investment in our students' education will have a lasting impact.”

Funded Aug 6, 2024Thank you for your generous donation to our students. Using academic planners can be a game-changer for students, offering several key benefits that significantly impact their academic and personal lives. Because of your generosity and kindness students are showing improved organizational skills and time management.
By planning ahead and setting priorities, students can focus on what needs to be done first. The academic planners purchased with your donations encourage students to set specific goals and track their progress. This systematic approach helps in maintaining a steady workflow, reducing procrastination, and boosting overall productivity.
Knowing what's ahead and having a plan in place can greatly reduce anxiety at a time when our learners are experiencing so much. Academic planners help students anticipate upcoming deadlines and manage their workload, which minimizes last-minute stress and helps students approach their tasks with a clear and calm mindset.
As we continue throughout the '24-'25 school year we encourage students to continue using their academic planners to take ownership of their learning and responsibilities. It fosters self-discipline and helps students develop essential life skills such as planning, time management, and goal setting, which are valuable both in academics and future careers.”

Making Models in Life Science
Funded May 24, 2024Thank you very much for the generous donations to support 7th graders in my science classroom.
Because of your support students will have access to essential supplies we would not regularly be able to afford outside our limited classroom funds.
Many of my students come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and a great deal of them do not bring supplies to school for day to day use. Your donation will support all of my students and creates equity for my students to be successful in the classroom.
Creating art in science is incredibly important for our diverse learners at Lahaina Intermediate. Our visual learners will truly benefit from your substantial donation as they will be able to have the opportunity to use a variety of supplies to create 3D models and take home their creations, something highly prized by my 7th graders.”

Funded Feb 16, 2024Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) for your generous contribution to our classroom. Students were so excited to see the new surprises your support brought to this unique learning environment. Because of your kindness, motivation is at an all time high as we approach the end of the school year. My hope it that this momentum and love for learning carries my 7th graders into their 8th grade year and they accomplish their goals as they head to highschool.
We appreciate your generosity so very much.”

Funded Dec 7, 2023Thank you very much for supporting the students of Lahaina Intermediate over the holiday season. We are so grateful for your kindness and generosity in donating to our Engineering Gingerbread Project. Through this project students were able to experience an afternoon of fun and creativity as we explored the process of constructing gingerbread houses. Some of our students had never had the opportunity to make gingerbread houses before which made the event even more special.
Students were so excited when they heard what our engineering challenge would be and even more energetic when they began to unwrap the materials they were given to construct their creations. Something about playing with food really motivates middle schoolers!
Mahalo nui loa (thank you very much) from the students and staff of Lahaina Intermediate School.”
