Inspiring A Love Of Reading

I am truly grateful for your donation. I am able to teach my students different skills and strategies while at the same time exposing them to wonderful texts. The texts lend themselves to multiple purposes.

One purpose is that with your generous donation to our classroom library students are able to see themselves in the texts. If the can see characters that look like themselves then they will be able to make some valuable text to self connections. They will also be spurred to share memories that the text causes them to remember. Two of the texts that were the basis of rich discussions were Crown Ode To The Fresh Cut and Your Name is a Song.

Finally, the texts help to encourage my students to develop a love of reading. With a love of reading, they will grow as both a reader and a writer.”
